So I need to be thinking about what we will do next. My girls are 3 1/2 and are in toddler beds. How long will these last? They share a room and their room isn't huge. I am either considering 2 twin captains beds (mainly for the storage) or 1 queen bed and then will be able to have a dresser. Sometimes they say they want their own bed and other times they want to share. Anyone been there done that and have any advice?

    THANKS!!!!

I would absolutely get two twin beds... Because even if your girls might want to share now, you know at some point in the future they won't want to. And then you'll be stuck with a queen bed and will need to buy a second bed and find a place to put it. Plus, one bed could be tough when they get sick. And at least in my family, sharing a bed frequently leads to "she's touching me!!!!" or "she's taking all the covers", or my favorite "she's breathing on me!!!"

When we put our girls in toddler beds, they constantly climbed into bed with each other. Then one morning I found them snuggled up but one of my monkeys had gotten her arm stuck through the slat of the bed because they were so crowded & it was really painful while the circulation was returning. We had a queen size futon mattress kicking around so we replaced their toddler beds with the one mattress on the floor. I expect that eventually we'll get them separate beds, but for now, this is working really well for us. They really love sleeping together. So I would say it depends on your kids. If they're currently happy to sleep on their own, I would get them separate beds - for the nights that they want to share, a twin will probably still be big enough to cuddle up together for a while.

We went with twin beds so that when I eventually put them in their own rooms they will still have their own beds. But they would have absolutely LOVED sharing a queen size bed. As it is, I often find them in bed together.

We have twin captain beds and some mornings they are in the same bed but neither are uncomfortable whenin the same bed.

We use twin mattresses against each other. Didn't want to bother with bed rails.

I'm went from a toddler bed, to twin, and hoping to buy a full soon. A queen would be nice, but there's not room for that. I would love to do a queen!

We have 2 twin beds side by side .. so they may as well be in a queen size. They wouldn't mind it. But at least they can be separated if need be.

We have twin beds, on opposite sides of the room. The girls stopped sleeping together before they were a year old because they both squirm so much in their sleep. They have no desire to share beds, lol. They love their big girl beds now!

Mine are in toddler beds right now but we're going to be moving them to twin size in January. I have no problem with my kids sleeping together sometimes but I personally want them to have the option to sleep on their own, in their own bed.

My oldest had a captains bed and the storage was really nice! Good luck!

You will have more options with 2 twin beds than 1 queen.
Plus you can get fun kid themed sheets. Not to many barbie sheets in queen size.
