So my dilemma with crib bumpers is the boys pulling on them and playing "peek-a-boo" with each other...they have actually snapped a couple strings!! Do I take them off and be prepared for limbs poking through? I'm afraid of the strings falling off and them eating them. Also Jack likes to snuggle right up to it to sleep...what would I replace it with? I can already imagine him crawling to his corner and banging his head repeatedly..what a nightmare!

and food...I wanted to give the boys yogurt and cottage cheese but of course its no milk until 1 year....what yogurt and cheese would I give them???

I took our crib bumpers off when they started pulling on them or standing on them. I never really had any problems with limbs getting stuck. Occasionally one or the other would have an arm or leg sticking out but it didn't happen very often.

I also fed mine yogurt & cheese long before they started drinking milk. Unless they have milk allergies, it's fine.

Ditto Tina. I took the bumpers off when they started popping the strings and I fed them all kinds of dairy foods starting at about 8.5 mos I think even though we didn't transition to whole milk until about 11.5 mos.

So as long as they tolerate it any kind of cheese and yogurt is OK? and I guess the cute bumpers are coming back out  at least they got 5 months use out of them :good:

Yep, I tried cheese & yogurt just like any other new food. Gave them a bit & watched them for a few days, but really if they haven't had any dairy problems before (are they on regular milk based formula?) it's unlikely they will have a problem with them.

Ooo yay! Now I'm excited to give them something new:) Is there any better cheese to try first? Like mozzarella as opposed to cheddar or anything like that? Obviously I will just do plain yogurt for awhile:) Yippy, I can't wait to see their faces!!

i think any mild cheese is ok, i have given mild cheddar, monterrey jack and their favorite is fresh mozzarella. yummy! and make sure you get whole milk yogurt, i hope they love it! you can mix it with fruit puree to sweeten it up a little because plain yogurt is pretty tangy. mine gobble it up!

We have the breatheable bumpers and they do play peek-a-boo with each other (which I think is SO cute) but they dont seem to be standing on them... yet. They dont have strings they velcro on.
We started yogurt and cheese a while ago - and have been using the YoBaby yogurt and then found that Trader Joes (not sure if you have one where you live) has a store brand that is the same for a bit cheaper. They LOVE yogurt, but as PP mentioned you want to make sure it is whole milk. I also found a large container of organic whole milk, vanilla yogurt that I am going to try and mix with some baby food fruit puree and see how they like that.
