2 questions about BM and water

Hi Ladies,
Hope you are all doing well.I have two questions:

How much water do you drink a day?I thought my doctor said 2 gallons,but I had to have heard wrong

When you are in the hospital on bedrest do you use the bedpan for everything including bowel movements?

I can't comment on the BM, but my doctor said one gallon per day of water.

 

I am on home bedrest with bathroom priveleges and my doctor told me to drink 8-10 large (16oz) glasses of water a day.

 

the gallon marker sounds about right. Dont have any knowledge on the bedpan though, i was allowed to get up to use the bathroom. Good luck!

 

well you got your answer regarding the water, I can help with the BM. Yes you do EVERYTHING in the bedpan unless you are granted bathroom privileges. I had a catheter the 1st month that I was here and only used the bedpan for #2 (and yes it is as embarassing as you can imagine having to call nurses to empty that!). I developped a bladder infection so out went the catheter but I was still not allowed off my bed. I used the bedpan for 3 days, but I couldn't take it anymore so my dr finally granted me bathroom privileges.
I must add that I was hospitalized at 22w3d for bulging membranes and 4-5cm dilated, so the experience might be different for someone with pre-e for example, or someone with a short and/or funneling cervix.
