Caleb is up for about an hour each time after naps and feeding during the day (that is, an hour from the time feeding begins till he falls asleep). I've heard they can stay up for about 2 hours usually at this age, but I'm just wondering, do I have a particularly sleepy baby, or is an hour not that unusually. When I add it up, it looks lilke he's only awake for about 4-5 hours total most days. That seems really short. He sleeps great at night, too, waking only to nurse two to three times and then falling asleep again each time almost immediately. I know, count your blessings, but I'm just curious if I should worry a little that he's sleeping too much.

Don't worry  . . .It is completely normal. I thought the EXACT same thing--Both my twins were barely ever awake until about 2 weeks ago (just after they hit the 3 month mark), when they started staying awake more. Even now it seems like they are barely awake but, I too, count my blessings, because I also have a VERY active 3 year old. IMO, it also depends on how early they were born. Mine were 6 weeks early so they had some catching up to do. . . In a LOT of ways, they act like their adjusted age of 2 months. Enjoy it because it won't last long. .. :D

enjoy it while it lasts :) :)
j/k but it's better that why than two colicky/crying babies. i think at that age my girls would get very overtired if they didn't go back to sleep within 1.5-2 hours. they pretty much woke up, change diaper, eat, sleep, over and over again with a few instances of tummy time if awake enough. i think it's normal but you can always check with your doctor if concerned..

My two were still very sleepy at 2 months also. They didn't really 'wake up' until sometime in the 3rd month. Enjoy!

Totally normal. Mine were never up for more than an hour at that age. They can barely stay up for more than 2 hours now. Don't worry about it. You'll notice them being able to stay awake longer as they get older. Enjoy the peace and quiet while you can.

I am glad you posted about this, I was just wondering the SAME thing. Mine are almost 2 months old and I am pretty much doing change/feed/nap 'round the clock. I keep reading about all these babies with "routines", playtime, bed time, etc. Huh?

Mine are 8 weeks old and they take five bottles. THey just started sleeping 8 hours at night the other. Their new schedule is

9:00 am wake up, change diaper & outfit, bottle, read stories sing
    11:00-1:00 Sleep
1:00 wake up, change diaper, bottle, read stories sing, tummy time
    3:00 4:30 sleep
4:30 wake up, cange diaper, bottle, read stories sing, tummy time
    5:30 -7:00 sleep
7:00pm -8:00pm get cleanned up, bottle, bed
    4:00-430 am bottle, bed

So baiscally after 2 of their bottles they are up for like 2 hours, 3rd bottle &4 th bottle like an hour and during the night bottle like a half hour, so like 6 1/2 hours give or take, but each day varies a little.
