They boys are getting their first shots tomorrow - and I imagine it's going to be a rough day!
Any sugestions on what I can do to make them feel better?? Can you give them tylenol (and would that help?) Just trying to be prepared!

    TIA!

My pedi gave me several samples of Tylenol and we gave the boys a dose as soon as they got their shots and then every four hours for 24 hours. They may sleep a lot : ), but I have done this every time and we have yet to have a fever or any bad side effects. The first round of shots is the worst. My boys were pretty fussy, i.e. cried a lot during the afternoon (shots in the AM), but were calm by dinner, ate great and slept really well. As long as it is ok with your pedi, I would go for the Tylenol.

    Good luck!

Yes...you can give them tylenol. We did so about 1 hour before their apt. so that it had time to set in. We also feed the babies right after their shots. It seems to really comfort them and they are distracted from the little sting in their legs. We've not had any problems with shots. The car ride home is usually great for sleeping afterwards as well. Good luck!

We did tylenol at the appt ... our pedi gave us samples ... we waited until their appt to give it to them though, so we could get the correct dosage for their weights, since they will take them right there. Besides that, we had some fussiness for a few hours, but just kept up the tylenol, and by the next morning all was fine. It didn't even affect there sleeping that first night. good luck!

Definitely give them Tylenol for the night! The one time we didn't do that after shots, we sure paid for it... :vava:

We do the exact same thing as knorts, give the Tylenol 30-60 minutes before the shots and then feed the kids immediately afterwards. The bottle or breast are extremely comforting for them and also distracts.

Love your boys' names :) I waited until a fever showed up last time (4 month) and won't be doing that again. We'll be administering tylenol immediately...they had a rough afternoon but calmed down with tylenol and a warm bath.
