The girls are getting their 2 month shots tomorrow. Anyone have any suggestions/experiences to share? I'm prepared with childrens tylenol in case they get extra fussy afterwards. I'm scared because I will be alone after they get home from the doctor!

Mine were sleepy right after the shots, but then fine for the rest of the day. I have heard of others being a little more fussy than normal.

i took my guys in for their 2 month shots on my own. it's a hard experience (harder for you than for them) but you'll get through it. just keep an eye on them afterwards. this may sound like a "duh" statement but just because they're twins that doesn't mean they'll react the same. our boys are identical so i had the silly expectation that either they wouldn't have a reaction or they both would. not so. jacob hasn't had a reaction to his shots yet, but owen has every time.

they'll be sleepy and if they have a reaction you'll see it as a redness at the injection site. be quick with the tylenol and do what you can to help them get to sleep. owen starts to hurt and then he can't sleep and then he gets overtired and the combination of overtired and achy makes him nearly hysterical. but if i can get that tylenol in him and rock him to sleep, he'll have a good long nap and wake up happy as though it never happened.

    good luck!

NOW I'm nervous! My DH is taking them himself to the Dr and I will not be going, I can't handle it. I FLIPPED when they got their heel pricked for hemoglobin. Of course, it didnt help that they screamed their heads off and I was an emotional roller coaster to begin with. Hopefully they will do ok as DH has to go back to work!

I do suggest giving a dose of tylenol about an hour before the shots, helps keep any possible temp jump from happening. My dr recommends it. Otherwise, get used to needles, they get lots in the first 5 yrs of life! I take my babes tomorrow too.

We go for our 4 month shots on Friday. My girls' legs weren't large enough to get all of their 2 month shots at once, so we got more at 3 months. Things I did at the 3 month visit that I wish I had done at 2 mos (and will be doing again for 4 mos):

    1. dress them in onesies with their legs exposed.
    2. put them into their car seats before getting the shots.
    3. give tylenol before the shot (I give it in the dr. office).

This way, once the screaming starts, you don't have to fight to get them into the car seats. You can just snap them into the stroller, get to the car and get home. My LOs slept after each round of shots and no problems so far.

Good luck and just remember that it hurts you worse than it hurts them!

A little extra fussiness and sleepiness is all that I experienced from what I remember. How are they doing with the RSV? All better?

I give Tylenol when I am in the waiting room at the Peds office for every shot appt. We have been pretty lucky in that I think they just fussed the car ride home and then they were fine. Mine never seem to want to sleep longer. :pardon:

She said today that they sound clear in their lungs, so we dont have to do breathing treatments anymore. She said everything looked fine!

It's better than having to see them get their heel pricked. It's over really quick.
