I'm just curious, for those of you with 2-month old twins, what is your "schedule" or or day like???

Mine have been going down between 9 and 1030 at night, usually sleep around 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 hours, wake to nurse, then back down for another 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 hours, then up around 6-7, usually nurse and then drop off for a little bit, and then the rest of the day is different from one day to the next - sometimes they nap at the same time, sometimes one stays up all morning and sleeps longer later, each does a different thing every day.

Oh, I should also mention that I am nursing and feed on-demand, and that I haven't read any books on scheduling sleep or anything - any that you use or recommend?

Our girls are about 11 weeks old (only 2 weeks adjusted age...they were born at 30.5 weeks). We have had the same "schedule" (if you can call it that) for the past month. It's similar to yours...a little sporatic. It can vary day to day, but normally they wake up about every 3.5 - 4.0 hours during the day to eat. If they don't wake up at 4 hours we still have to wake them to eat, according to our pedi...not sure if that's just because they are 30 weekers and need the weight gain or not. They are sleeping less and less in between eating as they become older and more alert, but they don't necessarily sleep at the same time or for the same length of time. Normally, they will stay awake the longest between meals after they eat between 7-8AM. The nights are about the same as the days ("on demand"), but they will last 5 hours occasionally. We were told not to let them go more than 6 hours without eating at night quite yet. At this point, i think they are still a little small for us to get them on a set routine. We're basically still "on demand." I think we'll try to establish a set routine around 6 weeks (adjusted age) and see how it goes.

Your "schedule" sounds very familiar to mine, except we don't get them down for the night till like 10-11 and they nurse twice before they're up by 10-11. Right now they're taking a nap (yay!) but that's about to be over and I don't know what will happen from then on till this evening.

I can't complain about the hectic days, though, since they're doing so great at night! It makes it a little hard to "work from home" like I've been TRYING to do, but oh well. I know they'll fall into a pattern here sooner or later.

Hang in there! I'm trying to nurse on demand, too, but they end up getting a bottle for 25% of feeds, more if I go out to work while DH watches them. It was all Breastmilk, but I'm running out of stores so we're cuttting it with 1/3 formula now. *sigh* someone's crying . . .GTG

    Hi,
Ours is also about the same, very sporatic, especially when it comes to naps. Some days they seem to sleep all day, and somedays, hardly at all. Our nights are horrendous(sp), they will not sleep undisturbed for more then 3 - 3.5 hours, we do not necessarily feed them after that, but they have to be comforted, or need a soother. This has been going on for weeks, they seem to have done better when they first came home from the hospital, then they went 4 - 5 hours during the night. Funny thing is that the night are very predictable, they go down at 8:00-8:30 (start feeding at about 7:15) they sleep verily well till 11:30 - 12:30 then they start fussing till about 2:30 - 3:00 we feed them at that time (they won't finish the bottle) then go till about 5:30 - 630.

I have my guys on a 4 hour feeding schedule. They eat at 6, 10 and 2. This is working out GREAT for us. During the day, we get them up to feed and at night, we let them wake up on their own. Sometimes, they will go 5 hours.

Mine get fed at 9:30 at night, taking 4.5 oz in the bottle. They are almost 14 weeks old.

Then, (THANK GOD) they wake up at 6am!!!!!! We feed them by 6:30 and then again every 3 hours during the day. They sleep between every other bottle. They are doing so great!

We try to be on a "schedule", but its pretty flexible. I try to start the day at about the same time (6:00). Then they nurse every 2.5 to 3 hours throughout the day. They "play" after they eat for 1-2 hours and then sleep. They go down for the night at about 7-7:30- and will sleep 6-9 hours - usually waking only once before we start it all over again. Of course- shots, colds, etc. mess it up. But we try! For me, the best way to get more sleep at night is put them down earlier, do the same routine (bath signals bedtime), and make sure they get enough feedings during the day.

    hi ladies,
Our girls are pretty much on the same schedule. Which is we don't have one....hahaha. Our girls are 7weeks and 3 days old, and they don't seem to have a set time when they are both awake, asleep etc. lately they have been both going to bed at 6:30 pm, then up 3 hours later for feeding, then they will usually sleep until 1-2 then up for feedings, but neither one of them will ever finish a bottle. They usually leave at least one oz. a piece, then they seem to be hungry a couple of hours later. this is frustrating to my hubby, because I work at night so they get pumped bm in bottles. The girls will sleep during the day pretty well, but seem to fuss a bit in the am. Do you think it would be better if we gave them set nap times? Should we give them a bottle during the day? Would that help with the frustration of the night time feedings? Any advice ya'll could give would be great!!!
