I'm confused/at a loss/unsure of what I should be doing with my 2 month olds. They still sleep quite a bit but not as much as they did in the beginning. I'm not sure what their schedule should be and what I should do with them when they are awake since they can'd do much and are still not really even looking at me....
I'd love to see what your schedule with 2 month old is/was and what you did with them when they were awake.

    Thanks

Oh gosh... at two months old we weren't anywhere near a schedule. Just eating every three hours and sleeping in between. When my girls were awake I talked to them, sang to them, and showed them colorful toys and black and white patterned things. That was about it. It won't be long until yours are awake more and become interested in their surroundings...

there was definitely no schedule at 2 months. Naps are unpredictable length. Although it was just after 2 months that we did start following HSHHC - trying to put them back down for a nap within 1 - 2 hours of waking up from the last one. And this really worked - they were much less fussy, and started sleeping a little longer at night. I highly recommend it. We have not done any real CIO yet, I still think they're too young for that.

They were (and still are) hungry every 2 -3 hours during the day. It was a demanding time because they are awake more, but not yet noticing toys so they can't really entertain themselves. Mine would do ok in the swing for short periods of time if we need to get stuff done, but mostly they liked to be held and talked to a lot. This was right around when they did start noticing us more and start talking and smiling a little. They didn't really look at toys, but they did like sounds - playing nature sounds or music or shaking a rattle near them seemed to be interesting for them. They would look in the direction of the sound.

I recently got some of those black and white flash cards to put above their changing table (we have a shelf above it, so the pictures are under the shelf), and I got a mobile with black and white pictures over the crib (not the crib they sleep in - I try to keep that one free of distractions). They are really, really captivated by these black & white images, I can lay them under this mobile and they will entertain themselves for a good 20 mins, sometimes more - and I wonder if they would have been interested in them sooner if I had gotten them. I'd suggest trying some of these. My DD especially will just lay under the pictures and stare and coo for a long time.

Fortunately at 2 months we were in SD with my family for a week, and then my DH started his 1 month paternity leave from work - so I didn't have to try to manage them by myself much during this demanding time - there were always at least 2 of us around to hold them.

Mine are almost two months and I definitely can't keep them on a schedule. It's just too hard to keep thier interest to keep them awake...I'm pretty much at their mercy and have to go with the flow. The only thing I do at this point is go through a little night time routine with them before bedtime (bath, low lights, music) so that maybe I can help them to differentiate between day and night. I don't know if it is making any difference at all, but it's worth a shot. They seem to sleep well after they've had baths in the evening.

At that age it was still just a lot of feeding, changing diapers and a little bit of awake time. When they were awake we would do a little tummy time, they would lay on their little activity mat and just kind of look at the animals. I also got a battery operated mobile that went over their crib and they would lay in there and look at that. They also liked their swings a lot! You can start by just incorporating a bedtime routine and making sure that they aren't awake for more than an hour and a half or two hours between naps that's what we started with but there wasn't really any set times for anything.

We didn't start to get into a "schedule" until they were about 4 or 4.5 months old. Until then, we were just going with the flow. My girls ate every 2-2.5 hours around the clock ( ) until about 5 or 6 months. At 2 months, they were still sleeping a lot but when they were awake, I would put them under those play mat things. We actually had 2 of them so that we could rotate them. We deffinately had a bit of rotation going on during that time. From swing, to mat to bouncy seats, to the other mat, back to swing and so on. I talked to them a lot and was ALWAYS singing to them. I also would put on The Disney Channel because there is so much music and all the shows have beautiful bright colors. Hang in there. It will all come together soon. You are still in a very rough stage of infancy and it does get easier and easier. Before you know it, you will be feel like a total pro.

We sort of have a schedule our b/g twins are 2months2weeks...they feed 5 times a day they wake one time in the middle of the night
    wake 8-8:30 am feeding
    play 30min after feeding
sleep until next feeding (4 hours from start of previous feeding)
    feed 12-12:30pm feeding
    play 30-45min
sleep until next feeding (4 hours again)
    feed 4-4:30pm
    play 15-20min
sleep until next feeding (4 hours again)
between this feeding and the next i start to be a little more quiet around the house
feed 8-8:30pm (if they need a bath i wake them 15 min before feeding and bath them first)
hold them for 20min after feeding no talking and then put them to bed for the night usually around
    9:30-10pm
then they wake for one night feeding around 3-4am and then back to bed until 8-8:30

sometimes the times are a little different but all day is 4 hours from start to start of feedings then one in the middle of the night

whenever they started to become fussy between feedings for a day or two i would up the formula intake 1/2oz-1oz

ds is now taking 51/2oz during the day and middle of night i give them 1/2oz more right before bed (6oz)
dd is 1/2oz less then ds (he is 2lbs bigger than her)
