Hi, after going in to the Dr because of an odd cycle - I was shocked to find out I was pregnant which was followed by an U/S which we saw two sacs at 5 weeks. Then with all the spotting had another at 6 weeks 4 days - One heart beat the other sac appears empty. After reading your site - I noticed this happend to many of you as well as spotting. This pregnancy is much different from my other two. At 8 weeks I will have another U/S to see if we are having twins. I'm slightly concerned the egg is splitting in the empty but larger sac and having 3. All of this is such a shock. Some days I begin preparing in my mind others I'm in denial but do feel sick. If we do see 2 babies I will be comming to chat more. Do you all remember early pregnancy with your twins and experiencing a lot of spotting? Did you all get big right away? I'm 7 weeks and haven't really noticed that I have grown...

Me too....I hope you come back with good news!

I didn't have any experience with spotting with my twin pregnancy...I did have some spotting off and on with my singleton though, mostly just old blood, nothing to worry about in my situation.

Yes, keep us posted and welcome!
I did not find out I was having twins until my first U/S at 9 weeks. Until then, I really did not feel like I had any signs of having twins (then again, these were my first pregnancy, so I had nothing to compare to)...morning sickness did not seem unusual and I did not feel big right away.

I was 6 weeks 1 day when I had an u/s (also had a bit of spotting) and we saw 2 sacs but only one heartbeat. I had another u/s at 6 weeks 6 days and there were 2 heartbeats. With my twin pregnancy, I got much bigger, much faster than my singleton. Congratluations and good luck! I hope it all works out the way you want!!

I didn't have any spotting with my twin pregnancy but I spotted for at least the first trimester with my last single pregnancy. It eventually stopped and the pregnancy had no complications.

I didn't have spotting, but it's very common in early pregnancy, especially with multiples! I also didn't get big right away, but there was tons of bloating for weeks. As for the twinshock--we even knew ahead of time our chances were high for having multiples and I was still in shock and sometimes denial for about a month! That's normal. :)

Don't worry about the empty sac splitting. If you're 7 wks pregnant it means you're 5 weeks past fertilization, and the splitting happens in the first week after fertilization (in rare cases it happens in the 2nd week). Good luck with your ultrasound next week!

Thank-you for all your responses! Only a few more days till the U/S. Still not showing but started to feel a baby bump that was super tiny and overnight trippled in size! So I am hopeful they are both good. :) My hubby and my 7 and 9 year old are so excited!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

I had some spotting early in my twin pregnancy - my twin pregnancy was different than any of my singleton pregnancy! I bought my first pair of maternity jeans at 9 weeks pregnant with the girls

I'm almost 16 weeks and some people thinks I'm more than 5 months...I too thought I'm pretty big as a 4 months...but I suppose we'll have to expect that 'cos there's two of em inside! :p

We had an u/s at 6w4d and were told we originally had twins but that we had lost one because one sac was empty. At 8w4d they saw two heartbeats and both babies measured right on target. I hope that you experience the same good news. I didn't spot, but spotting is very common. I first noticed growth at around 9 weeks, but it wasn't very noticable to others until I was about 14 weeks along. This is my first pregnancy so I don't know how it would compare to a singleton for me.

I had my first u/s at 6 weeks and only saw 1 heartbeat, we weren't looking for anything more. At 8 or 10 weeks we had another u/s and it showed 2 heartbeats. I started to show early on but not at 7 weeks. You figure everything evern with 2 is still really itty bitty. Once everyone starts growing you will be amazed at how fast you will grow as well. I see pics of myself at 3 or 4 months and I look really far along.

Thank-you ladies for all of your encouragement and support! I really had my hopes up but now baby #2 has disapeared. Mixed feelings as of course we are happy the one looks healthy but feel sad the other is no longer there. They told me this happens in about 40% of twin pregnancies. Many do not know how to respond and just congratulate us not recognizing any loss so that is a little hard. Best wishes to each of you as you raise your twins and enter a whole new experience. Thank-you again!!!
