    Tonight I gave Leah a dose of Tylenol while DH was giving Wes a bath. They were both out of the bath and I went downstairs to warm bottles. When I returned, DH said he gave Leah Tylenol. YIKES! Should I be worried? We do normally communicate well . . . I guess we need to do even better. Help, what do you think?

    I would call the ped and at least speak to a nurse. {{{HUGS}}}

  3. I just read in the Dr. Sears book that an initial double dose of acetomenaphine is fine to give -- at least for older babies. If you want to be sure, call the nurse, but I think you're fine.

    We have some friends that are both family practice docs & they swear you can't OD on Tylenol, but I'd call just to feel better.

    Do call, but my DH and I have done that before and no ill came of it. Don't do it everyday, but every once in a while should be fine. {hug}

    The amounts listed on the tylenol bottles are underdosed for the majority of babies. The actual dose of tylenol by weight is 15mg/kg (about 7 mg/lb) (I am an RN :) ) so unless you have a very small child for age, then it's not going to harm them. My husband and I have done the same thing accidently as well and Ben was fine.

    Thanks for all of the responses. You all made me feel better. I did keep checking on Leah last night and she seemed fine. PHEW!

    Maybe this will make you feel better. My son at 1.5 yrs got hold of a brand new bottle of infant tylenol, double size. He drank the whole thing. I called poison control, obviously. And felt terrible. They calculated it out and he was right on the edge of being at overdose point. They told me to give him syrup of ipecac, which I did. He was fine. Won't take medicine peacefully now because he thinks it makes you sick. lol. Point is, if an entire double sized bottle of infant's tylenol is not quite an overdose for a 1.5 yr old I think you are ok with two doses. And I think I probably should get the bad mother of the year award for that. The child is 3 now and hasn't gotten into anything else he shouldn't.
