hello all, my girls are 4.5 months now and i still do no thave a place for them to sleep. they have been sleeping with me and in the playpen. i just now have the money together to get them a bed but i just need some input from some other moms on what is best as far a price, brand, and if there is even a such thing as a twin crib or an oversize crib. or if i am just supposed to buy 2! maybe i can get a deal somewhere??

    thank you for your advice

You might be able to get by with one crib for awhile, but they will almost definitely need their own cribs eventually.

We have once nice crib and one cheapo crib, and while you can tell the difference (the cheap one feels . . . cheap) it is still entirely functional (Elliot is still sleeping in it at age 3+)

You can get a deal at Babies R Us if you buy two together (I think it's something like 10% off when you buy 2 of the same for twins, large items only), but you could probably do better buying used on Craigslist or out of the newspaper - just be sure it meets all of the current safety recommendations. Depending on where you live, you might have "Freecycle", which is an email list on which you can post things you need or things you have to give away - I see cribs and crib mattresses appearing now and then on our local list.

    Good luck!

My boys moved from 1 to 2 cribs at about 4.5 months because one was turning around and kicking his brother. If yours are okay in one pnp (we recently had to start using two when we're away from home - same problem) then they should be okay in one crib for a while longer. We were very lucky in that one crib is a hand-me down from SIL and the other we got at a yard sale (very new and meets all codes). I see cribs for sale all the time on our local on-line classifieds.
The problem with used is you don't get matching sets (unless you get to a twins sale). Nothing in our nursery matches and we're okay with that.

My boys still fit in one crib, but we are starting to have issues with space in once crib (How did a shorty like me have such TALL babies????), so as soon as they start STTN, they will go in two separate cribs in their own room!

IKEA's cribs are very safe and a good value--I bought each of our cribs for $79! If there is an IKEA near you, I recommend their cribs--I'm not a huge fan of their grown-up furniture, but for kid's furniture, you can't beat the prices!

My two slept together in the same crib until they were 6 months old. They have their own cribs now, but still share a room.

I moved my boys to two cribs at around 6 months because they really started moving and becoming more active. They were waking eachother up and they wouldn't go to sleep. I know that babies-r-us gives a multiples discount if you buy two of the exact same item over $50 so maybe you could just find one of the less expensive cribs and buy two I think it's a 30% discount but you have to ask for it when you go to check out.
