    Hi there,

Im still pregnant and trying to prepare for the twins ultimate arrival. I wondered what some of you would recommend in terms of sleeping arrangements for the first few weeks? I have one bassinet that I used for my older son and wondered if it would be wise to purchase another one. Im hoping to breastfeed, but I will have to see how that works out. Also how did you manage the night time feedings? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.... as Im kind of worried about how this is going to work out logistically. Thanks! :D

I didn't have bassinetts...but I did have have 2 PNPs(one borrowed from a friend), one set up in our room and the other set up on the first floor.... I had the twins double up in there during the day for naps... At nighttime I had them both in one crib for awhile until they bothered each other too much..which only took like 4 weeks! LOL...Nighttime feedings..there are two approaches.. feed them both at once, waking one up if he/she is still sleeping and the other wakes.... The other technique is to feed them each on their own schedule. We tried both approaches...and found that we were just as sleep deprived either way! LOL. My only tip...it's really nice if you can have some help...either dh or someone else willing to pitch in for the night. Eventually I did let them take their own schedules, just b/c dd started sleeping longer at night and ds didn't... But for nap schedule during the day I still had them go down at the same time... HTH.

I had two bassinets and I used them for quite a while because my babies were both somewhere in the 4 lb. range when they were born. Mine had rollers and mobiles......I could just roll them to any room I was ......it was nice.

I took one of their crib's and took one wall off and made the crib mattress level with my mattress and fixed the crib so it wouldn't slide. Then I had the crib right next to my bed for night breastfeeding. It worked like a co-sleeper expect it was big enough for two instead of one. They liked sleeping right next to one another all bundled up. It worked from the first night home. We had it all set up prior to their arrival. There was even room in the crib for diapers, wipes, the boppy, and burp rags so everything was right on hand so I didn't have to get up. I always nursed them at the same time. Even if I had to wake the other one up, it saved alot of time. Especially since mine nursed every 1.5 - 2 hours for several months. I used the football hold on both and would switch who had which side with each feeding. They got in the habit of holding hands while nusing it was so cute!

I would recommend 2 PNP's...one for your downstairs (if you have a 2-story) for daytime naps for the babies and one for your room. We had a bassinet (that was free from a friend) that we put in our room when teh babies came home. They were not breastfed, but I still had to feed them every 3-4 hours. They both stayed i nthe same bassinett, but only for 3 weeks. After that, every noise would wake me up and I was getting NO sleep, so we moved them into the nursery. I would use a PNP in your room instead of the extra the bassinett that will be of not much use later on.

I would get the PNP b/c it's better for use later on. We have 2 and I wouldn't have it any other way. We travel with them to the grandparents for holidays, etc. right now, both of my PNP's are at my mom's house b/c if we spend the night anymore, it's typically there. If we need them for something else, we just pick them up. We bought one PNP new...the other one DH got at work...someone was selling it for $10 (it's just a basic, no frills PNP)

Ditto, we had a PNP. I only used one, and they both fit in it for quite some time.

My sister had the bigger arms reach co-sleeper. We had a crib in our room that they shared at first. Or, they often slept in their car seats or papasans. Whatever worked. As for night feedings, I just fed as they woke. We fell into a rhythym of nursing and dozing and then I would switch babies when the other woke. I never could bare to wake a perfectly contented sleeping baby.
