Saturday I was having some really sharp back pains and because of my constant worrying the past few days, I went to L&D. I was having a few contractions, but nothing serious and I was a little dehydrated. But I'm dilated to a 1. Is that normal at this point with twins? The nurse was suprised at how low I was carrying them but said everything looked okay. My BP was higher than normal and that worried me a little but I was having a major anxiety attack at the time! It never got over 140/80 and before I left it was back down to 125/73--which is still a little high for me, but again stress...I pretty much insisted that they do a full blood panel to check my liver and all of that and everything looked great. The nurse even checked my reflexes and and all so it really doesn't look like I have a problem. Still no swelling and at my calm appt. last week BP was 120/60. I was only there 2 1/2 hours (slow night) and my Dr. released me with instructions to drink more water and rest but on normal activity. I have an appt. Wed. the 27th.
So, a little freaked being that I'm only 3 days away from 29 weeks, but I've made it this far! My next goal is 30 weeks and then 34! After that I'll breathe easy!

How scary to have to go to L&D. I'm sorry you had to go, but glad everything was ok. I posted a question about early dialation with twins as well. At my 30 week appt I was told I was a fingertip. (Which it's my understanding that's very close to a cm.) My dr isn't concerned about it, and from posting on here and asking about it. I think it's because my cervix is plenty thick. I think that's really the big important part. You can always call your docs nurse and ask her, she should be able to tell you if you should worry or not.

Sorry about your trip to L&D. I would definitely take it easy especially with being 1 cm dilated. Any contractions you have could dilate you more. Drink lots of water and take it easy.

Did your doc mention bedrest or modified activity at all? I was dilated to 1 cm at 27 weeks and was put on bedrest. I made it to 34w1d. I was admited to high risk on 3 different occastions in that 7 week period for a total of 26 days, but mostly precautionary for PTL. I kept having lots of contrax and they wanted to constantly monitor the babies and make sure they could get me to 34 weeks...I did get there, but delivered 1 day past. Hang in there...you can still carry those babies for quite a while...it's definitely possible!

I think that is kind of early to be dliated at all, I'd rest as much as you can. Can you put yourself on modified bedrest? Also, drink plenty of fluids.

At 30 weeks I went in for a routine check up and my OB sent me to L&D immediately. I was 2cm dialated and 50% effaced. I was hooked up to monitors and immediately started contracting every 3 minutes. Finally after 3 days of being on Magnesium Sulfate they were able to stop my labor. Now I am at home on bed rest! I made it to 32 weeks today and every week is a milestone for me. I would love to keep them in until 36 weeks. When I was in the hospital they did give me the 2 rounds of steriods shots to mature the babies lungs so I am not so worried about lung development but I don't want them to do any time in the NICU so I hope to keep them cooking for 4 more weeks.

No, my instructions were to drink plenty of fluid but resume normal activity. Tell you the truth, I don't do much anyway....but I went through a "nesting" phase late last week and did a little more than usual--still not much though. I have upped my fluids and truthfully, I'm too tired to do much! I had my final baby shower today at DHs work and it was nice but wore me out (even though it only lasted an hour) so that's about all I'll be doing until after they get here!

I was reading your reply about L&D- and I noticed that your twins are 10 days apart! How??? My girls are 1 day apart, just because I delivered them at 11:58 pm and 12:09 am- I've never heard of other twins with different birthdays!
