Hello, 13 wks. today-1st pregnancy-37 yrs old next month-and the 1st 2 mths was fine but it seems when I reached that 2nd mth. all hell broke loose-I am afraid to eat anything because I dont want to puke it up.I try my best to eat as healthy as possible and still I have to somewhat force feed myself so that I wont get sick from hunger.Advice given to me is that once I reach the 2nd trimester that things may let up some-by the way does the 2nd trimester start at 16 wks? What was your experience, any advice? Thanks in advance.

Second Trimester starts at least at 14 weeks. Some say 13. I didn't start getting sick until 12 weeks and now I've had it for 2 weeks. I have recently started drinking ensure drinks. They really help with the hunger pains. I was waking up in the middle of the night and having to go get something to eat. I've found if I drink one right before I go to bed then I don't wake up hungry and don't feel hungry til I can get up and get dressed. It was a life saver and it gives your babies more good nutrients. I got the plus protein ones since my doctors are all about the extra protein. Also if you get all your water in a few hours before you go to bed you won't have to get up as much throughout the night to use the bathroom.

The OB can give you something to help with the nausea. I took Zofran (actually the generic form) and it helped make it more mild. If I hadn't I would have been in BIG trouble. Don't be miserable ask the OB for help.

OY! I am sorry to hear this! M/Sick was my downfall!!

A few things that MIGHT help....

    Lemon in water
    Flat Coke
I drank smoothies of ice cream and fruit w/milk
Eat fruit and stuff that tastes the same coming back up as it does going back down. (I'm actually NOT joking about this - if you can believe it!)

Before you lift (LITERALLY) your head off the pillow - eat something you put by your bed the night before. (Nutrigrain bars, crackers whatever you can stomach). THEN GET UP!

I hope it goes away, but if it doesn't - talk to the doc! Zofran saved me!!!

The on thing that has consistently helped me through my pregnancies is the relief band. Its a little zapper band that goes on your wrist. With the twins that hasn't totally taken care of it so i drink the morning wellness tea, which has been a big help! Good Luck!

The nurse prescribed Promethazine for the nausea and vomiting but I was a bit reluctant to take them because they were a catagory C for pregnancy.I was trying to see if there were any other remedies out there that were close to natural. Also Promethazine causes drowsiness ( i am a student and would not want to be sleep in class or drowsy driving,as they almost immediately take effect))-they say that it does not affect the baby-but I am 37 this is my 1st pregnancy & I've been told alot of gory miscarriage stories which drove my to be more cautious-could you please tell me the catagory that Zofran is in for pregnancy?Because if it is a B or better I may ask my doctor if I can switch to those. Thanks alot for your suggestions.

Yes...I do the ensure now those drinks are a lifesaver-they do help to relieve the pains-Good idea about the xtra protein-and I did catch on to that drinking the water earlier trick, so that I don't have to be up as frequently in the wee hrs. of the night tee- teeing :) Thanks for the knowledge on when the 2nd trimester starts cause I am looking forward to seeing if I will be relieved of this sickness.

That thing coming up with the same taste as it went down would be cantalope-I actually had gotten to the point where cantelope, water and ensure drinks was the ship that carried me over :D Thanks for your advice.

alot of carbs worked for me, noodles and breads and such, rice too. they tend to be easier on the stomach, as far as not changing the ph of it too much. tums also have helped me a great deal.
