    hello to all.... :)

I am brand new on this board and brand new to the being-pregnant, on the top of that with 2!
    (see my siggy for history....)

I know it's still very early for me, but I am trying to start planning for registry and shower.
how do you know what to register for?
And how do you know of what you will need 2?
And when do you have your showers?

My doc told me with twins, it’s good to have everything done and be ready latest at 7 months, because you never now….
Any tips are appreciated, as this is my first pregnancy, I’m a bit in the dark….if I go online….it seems like it’s a bit exaggerated what people get!

Any good twin books known? Not the ones that scare the **** out of me! I have one funny story, I got a twin books from the library, it’s from 1980! So it has some good basic information, especially tips for when you get home for the first months. But one hilarious thing was, it talked about what you have babies sleep in. they suggested for couples that don’t want to spend too much money on that, they can put babies in drawer of cabinet or in a cardboard box ! DH and I were laughing so hard! :D

thanks and any input is appreciated!

    Hi Alexa~

    Welcome to TS!

There is a "sticky" at the top of the page that has some information that may be useful for you. I've just started trying to figure this stuff out too. We are fortunate that we're the last of our friends to have babies so we're getting a lot of hand-me-downs. For instance, I think I'll be able to have two bouncy seats on the main floor and upstairs because so many people are just giving them to us.

I'm not good at the linking thing yet, but there is a note at the top of the expecting forum that has some suggestions. You might want to check that out.

Our twins were our 2nd and 3rd, so we had a decent amount of stuff. We needed another car seat, and a double stroller - make sure to get one you like because you will use it A LOT!. We had 2 boucy seats, but only had one of the other large equipment things - swing, entertainer, jumper.

We had a lot of basics - blankets, burp clothes, sleepers, and tons of bottles - so you don't have to do dishes and laundry so often.

    Good luck, and welcome!

    Welcome!

Also, if you go to Babiesrus.com and start your registry online, they have it all broken down into categories with lots of recommendations on what you need. I don't know that you need something in every category, but it was a great starting point for us, at least to get the big things down. They also have user product reviews on most of their products, which was great because you could get an idea of what other people thought before going and looking yourself at the store.

    Good luck!

You must have read the same book I did. I busted up laughing when it suggested using a drawer or empty laundry basket for them to sleep in. It was then that I had to go check to see when the book was written.

Like you, my twins were my first children... I was very much in the dark about what I needed. My twins are now almost 5 months old, so perhaps I can help shed some light for you. First of all, get lots of bottles if you decide to bottle feed.. it saves you from having to wash bottles everytime you turn around. I would also suggest two swings. My boys love the swings. Many people suggest 2 of the bouncy seats, mine never liked them. Otherwise, I think the rest is just the common stuff times two, like burp clothes, hooded towels, blankets for swaddling etc.

As for when to have the showers, I did mine at about 30 and 33 weeks- it was cutting it way too close, in fact I was put on bedrest at 32 weeks and had to beg my peri to let me attend. Planning early is a good idea.

I don't have a special twin book that I would recommend, but I do use the Dr. Sears "Baby Book" as a reference. It is great.

    Hi! Welcome to TS!

My twins were also my first pregnancy, and boy did I have a lot of questions. Congratulations!!

Check out Our Beginner's Tips at the top of the page, this should get you started. We also have a Big Sister program that would link you up with an experienced mom of twins. There is a link in my signature that will give you the information on that. The twin book that I used during my pregnancy was by Dr. Barbara Luke. Here is a link.

All I can say, is just ask questions! I have found that TS is a tremendous support system and I have been able to get so many answers to my questions.

    Hope this helps!!
