1st poop on the potty

Phoebe has been in underwear since this past Friday and is doing great with peeing on the potty. She has not pooped since Thursday, which is not abnormal for her. I know she has to poop today. But she is fighting me about going on the potty. I don't want to step back and put her in a diaper as I know one girl whose 5 year old daughter STILL only will go poop in a diaper. I just don't want to go there.


Anyone been through this? Any advice?

I sat with her for a good 20 minutes this morning and promised her a new "James" train (Thomas) if she went on the potty. I would rather have her poop her underwear than go backwards into diapers!

 

ah well. She pooped in her pants. We will keep trying. Still would love feed back from someone who has BTDT.

We had a couple poop in underwear incidents when we first started potty training. For us, Sofia only poops once a day so I think it took her a few times to understand what the need to go poop feeling was like. She did not like the poop on her underwear. Now we are in a good pattern and she goes poop every day. I agree, do not put her back in diapers. I think if you just keep up with it she will get it. Just be patient and don't get mad at her if she goes in her undies. Just explain to her as you are cleaning up that poop goes in the potty not in the underwear.

 

Thanks Trish - that's what we did today. She was upset about pooping in her underwear. I told her not to worry - accidents happen!
