I had my first peri appt today I'm 17 weeks and 5 days. We are having a baby boy and girl!!! They only problem they saw was that the boy was already 8 oz and the girl was only 6.5 oz. Is this common? Will this cause any problems???

Congrats on the news! Isn't it great to know. My son was always a lot bigger than my daughter, and still is. As long as they are developing at the same rate (percentage-wise), along their own growth curve, then that is fine. My kids were almost a pound and a half off at birth. Now at almost 2, they are 10 pounds apart. Dianne, one of our expecting mods here, had an even larger difference I think (at least now she does; I hope she chimes in). Different kids, different genes.

Glad to here things are going well.

I had my first level II at 17 weeks also, my boy was 7.7 oz and my girl was 6.8 oz. My peri said that was perfectly normal right now and that the boys are usually bigger. I wouldnt worry yet until they tell you theres something to worry about. we go back for our next level II on the 22nd. I cant wait. I love seeing them.

I had my first level II u/s last week and both babies were ~8 oz. (within grams of each other) but really, go by what the doctor says. If the doctor isn't concerned, then you should not be either!

Sorry it took me awhile to find this, didn't check in too much yesterday.

Congratulations on finding out the sexes!

My two have always had a weight discordance. Like Kate said, the key is that they both continue to grow and at their own rate. They do not have to be exactly the same just both continuous. K&K were born with a 1 pound 4 ounce weight different that has continued to increase since. At their 5 year check up they were almost 30 pounds different in weight and 4 inches different in height. Both are perfectly healthy!

Don't you just love seeing them!!! I wouldn't worry, size differences aren't usually an issue with fraternal twins. The only time they really worry about size differences is with monochorionic (one placenta). As long as they have there own placenta you don't have to worry about TTTS. They will be fine, your little girl is just a little girl. They will watch you very closely so don't worry

    Congrats on your B/G!

My boy was always a bit bigger than my girl. Now he is 2" taller nad about 2 lbs bigger than she is. Remember they are 2 different people who grow differently and at different rates.

OT Story: yesterday I was at Target and a woman said, "how far apart are they? less than 12 months!"

I said, "Yes, 1 minute [IMG]"

some people don't even think they are twins because he is so much bigger than she is.
