Saw my OB today . He was an hour late due to surgery he had. I am fien with that, Surgery is important and I understnad that but.... he literally spent 5 minutes with me. Did a very quick u/s and the twins look great. They couldn't even give me a h/b number which irritated me. The RE didn't give me one either. I want a number!!!LOL!! anyway he didn't tell me how much weight he wanted me to gain and didn't go over anything really. He did say that he woudl schedule my c/s at 36 or 37 weeks. My son came at 35w4d so I am very concerned with PTL. HE said he was not worried about it at all. Anyway very disappointed with my appt.
How much weight shoudl I gain if I am 20-25 pounds overweight as it is??? am 12 weeks today and still at -2 due to all the nausea

You know, when I found out I was having twins, I was so shocked that I couldn't take in everything but all appts since then have pretty much been the same way. Short and insignificant. I think I learn more by reading and doing the research myself online which is kinda sad. I guess if you have a list of questions to review with them be sure to bring them so you aren't rushed through your next visit.

Every appt. with my OB was very similar to yours. Always fast, quick Ultrasound then a few word spoken about how I was feeling and out the door he went. I learned everything I needed to know from this forum. It is truly a blessing. I was also over weight. Started out at 172....never gained weight. I was 165 when I delivered at 33.4 wks. I am now 138 and it has been 3 weeks. Twins was a great weight loss plan for me!

Sorry about that. :( Too many of my previous appointments were like that (and definitely the one where I first found out I was having twins; I didn't know what to ask!)

I'd recommend getting Dr. Luke's book When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads. She has very helpful info and recommendations for every aspect of a multiples pregnancy, including weight gain and nutrition (and she does differentiate between whether you started pregnancy underweight, normal weight or overweight).

Best of luck! Do some research and go in next time with questions. If your OB seems that rushed at every appt, you might consider switching? I ended up switching for other reasons and it is SO nice to have an OB now who actually remembers me and who never rushes me when answering my questions, etc.

I'm sorry you were disappointed with your appt. I found my appts. with my OB were that way too, just basically a heartbeat checks. My peri appts. were much more in depth, so maybe that's why my OB appts were so quick.

Sorry about your experience with OB.
With my first appointment I was waiting for 1.5 hours, but after that OB spend another 1.5 with me telling me everything.
what to eat how many to gain.
this is what I was told. ( I am more then 60lb overweight ) by week 12 he doesn't want me ot gain anything. but after that I need to gain 1lb per week.
in B.Luke book for my BMI she is saing that I need to gain between 3-5 lb until 12 weeks and after that 0.75-1lb per week.
so look like they agreed with that numbers :)
About u/s my OB office doesn't have a great machine so I don't knwo the h.b number too. I am waiting for my peri appointment in 2 weeks and they will give me that numbers :)

wow i guess i was really lucky then, the midwife i was seeing before we found out they were twins, and the ob i've been seeing since then are both really awesome. they're very informative and nice, not to mention funny. i guess i should get them a christmas present...
oh and im maybe 50 or so lbs overweight or so they say, ive been told to try to gain 45-50lbs so far i seem to be stuck at 26lbs for the past three or four weeks. it seems my body is slimming down some and my belly is pumping up.
