So, any of you that have only the twins that will be in 1st grade in the fall? Or your youngest in 1st? I only have kinders next fall, but was thinking about how my day will be the next year with a larger block of time during the day. Anyone that doesn't work now plan to head back? Other plans? I will have had kids at home for 14 years by the time by youngest are in 1st grade, so I'm not quite sure what my plan will be. It seemed so far away and now it's right around the corner. I have a neighbor who is job hunting for the first time in 20 years! (Her kids range in age from 20 down to 6). I don't NEED to work, so I don't think I'll go that route. I'm sure I can find lots of ways to fill my day. I'd like to spend each morning at the gym.....

My boys will be in first grade in the fall, and I am looking forward to not having to do the mid-day pick-up! My plans for next year include, being able to spend ALL DAY on Fridays at the barn--instead of running home to meet the bus! But I am also planning to substitute at the boys' school. Ideally I will work 2-3 days a week--not on Fridays :) But, I was a teacher before the boys were born.

Logan will be in first grade in the fall. It won't be that much of an adjustment, because he goes the full day already, and I've always worked... and he'll go to the same school.

Hayden and Brady were in all-day kindergarten this school year. I thought I'd have all the time in the world to take on more work and activities. Honestly, my days were busier than ever!! I work from home, so I squeezed in a few hours from 5-7 a.m. before I had to get them up and going. I'd go to the Y several days a week after dropping them off. Then between volunteering at school and church, running errands, keeping appointments, household chores, etc., my day just flew. I'd try to work another hour or two at home and then I had to be out the door by 1:30 to line up at their school to pick them up. It made for a very short day!

For 1st grade, all three boys will be at the same school, which will run from 9-3. They will take the bus at least one way, so that will open up more work hours for me. But I know my days will still be very busy!

For us, kindergarten was all day and I thought I would have so much time to do whatever I wanted, but it just didn't work out. It seems the more time I have the more other people need me to do things for them. I enjoyed volunteering in tehir classroom two days a week this year, but I think next year I'm going to try and do something that i actually get paid for. I'm looking at the school cafeteria job. The hours are great -- they start after the kids get on the bus, are finished up by 1:00 and have all the same days off the kids do, and the pay isn't that shabby. It's sounds good for one who only wants to dip her toe in the job market at this point.

I loved having the kids in school all day this year. I work at Bath and Body Works, but only in the evenings after dh gets home, so that left my days open. It was so nice to be able to have the house clean all the time, and be able to go on field trips or help in the classrooms as much as I wanted.

My kids will be starting first grade in the fall as well, but they did attend an all day kindergarten last year. They were in school from 7:30am to 2:30pm. I didn't work prior to them going to school, but once they started kindergarten I started working at their school. (As a paid employee). I actually worked in a first grade class.

I loved it and hope to do the same this year. I'm pregnant now, so not sure how it will all pan out, but it was nice to get the income, but I was on the same schedule as them. So I took them to school and picked them up and I was off on all of the same days there were. It was GREAT!
