I have become nostalgic as my girls' first birthday approaches. So, I decided to make a little birthday montage of pictures from the last year.

Does anyone have any ideas for music to put in the background? I think one that would be great is "With Arms Wide Open" by Creed.

What else? Something nostalgic, but cute...no matter what music I choose, I am sure that I will cry and make my mother cry when I finally sit down to watch the whole thing. I think it will probably end up being 6-7 minutes long.

    Thanks for the ideas!!

have you heard the Curious Georage Soundstrack by Jack Johnson? Really cute songs on that CD. The first song, Jungle Gym is really cute for a first b-day montage.

There is a song by an artist named Catie Curtis called The Princess and the Mermaid. It is about her two little girls and life changing - kind of a call to her significant other mainly...here are some of the lyrics. I cry when I hear it. I used it for their montage. This is the first verse and chorus. Here is a link to the whole song - you have to download it - just to have!!!! http://www.songlyrics.com/catie-curtis/the-princess-and-the-mermaid-lyrics/

These days we can't seem to find the time
After picking up toys and giving up airplane rides
But the princess and the mermaid in the backseat
Have pointed out the moon and fallen asleep
    Amen

Driving past the place we used to live
Before we lived with crayons and with cribs
Sometimes I don't know how we got here
A little dream of our own and we got here
    Amen

CHORUS: Whatever it takes, whatever we need
I believe that we can make it, my love
Whatever comes you are the one
Who helps me to believe I'm strong enough

When I did older DS's I used "over the rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

It's so beautiful and was perfect for looking at pictures.

    Good luck!

Mark Harris has a song about raising kids called "Find your Wings." Here's his video/slide show on YouTube. Love it! I plan to use it for a montage for Father's Day next year:

I third Lullaby by Dixie Chicks. I cry every.single.time. Also Over the Rainbow by Israel-it's a great one. One I haven't seen listed is Daughter by Loudon Wainwright.

I put it together as a surprise for my husband so I used a couple of his favorite songs (Angel by Jimmy Hendrix and a Beatles song). If I where doing it for us I would've probably picked our wedding song or songs that I listend to their first year here and remind me of my babies, songs that mean something to us.
