How the heck am I going to make it through their birthday celebration without crying. I can't BELIEVE that they are going to be one on Thursday. It's been quite a year. The birth of the twins, moving back into our house after A LOT of renovations, our DS was sick with bacterial meningitis in January. We spent 8 days in the hospital with him while our DD split the time between grandparents homes. Thank goodness we caught it early as my DS is fine. That was so scary.
My DD is already walking and my DS is cruising. My DD plays peek-a-boo and my DS waves "Hello" and "Goodbye". They play peek-a-boo with each other and "chase" each other around the room. Laughing all the while. What a wonderful sound. I never thought, with all the trying and losses, that I would hear that sound in my house.
It's all happening so fast. So many milestones. Wow.
Thanks to everyone in this forum for posting your questions and responses as all the posts have been great in helping me with my questions and supporting me when I felt down and out with exhaustion and..well..feeling completely overwhelmed. The first 3 months were THE hardest thing I have ever gone through. I have never felt so many emotions and been so exhausted. It's also been the most rewarding experience. Nothing prepares anyone for parenthood. It's a mystery until you are right in the thick of things:) You can try to describe the love you feel for these little ones but..it's really..undescribable. It's amazing. Watching them grow..it takes my breath away sometimes.
Thanks again and I will be heading over to the second year forum soon!

Your post made me cry! It was so sweet! I am a big crier and almost cried when we were singing Happy Birthday to the boys, but managed to choke back the tears (I just couldn't sing). Just have fun at the party and think of all the great new milestones ahead! Please come back and share you first year experiences with others.

    :birthday: babies!!!

I loved your post - I have big sniffly tears welling up in my eyes!! Happy birthday to your babies - what a wonderful milestone to reach:)

Isn't it amazing how quickly time flies. My two have just under a couple months left in their first year. Can't believe it. Just incredible.

Hope your babies have a wonderful and exciting birthday, and that you too take time out to celebrate surviving the first year. Well done Mama!!

Your post has given me more strength and confidence to stay positive with the twins, no matter how tired I am from work everyday. Seeing their smiles everyday and sleeping peacefully takes every ounce of tiredness off my shoulders. Cheers to all parents, esp parents of twins!! WE ROCK!! :drinks:
