I have less than a month until the big day!

Since Christmas just passed, they babies really don't need any more toys.
I am trying to think of a good birthday gift for them that would be a meaningful 1st birthday gift.

If I were to go with a toy I think it would be a first play set type thing for outside... any of those that you just love (small slide/climbing)?

    Ideas would be great!

    TIA!

A wagon! We got one for Christmas from my aunt(total suprise) but I was planning on buying one for the boys 1st B-Day. We love to go out and stroll around our yard, my parents, grandparents etc(we all live on the same road). I can't wait until it gets warm again to use it.

    That does sound good.
I have 2 older DD's that I know would beg to pull (gently) the babies around the yard...

This is what I was going to say too. My parents got the twins a wagon for their b-day next month. Also, what about a little ride on toy or leapstart table, if you don't already have those.

They probably would use a little climbing thing outside this summer.

Ride on (and/or push behind) toys are a huge hit in our house (we have 4!).

We also have a climbing thing that my parents got us for their first birthday, but we don't have space to use it inside. We did set it up briefly and the girls didn't seem to know what to do with it at 12 months anyway.

I was just telling DH last night they'll need cash for their bday to pay for new carseats. [IMG] j/k, though.

I love the wagon idea, a good one will last for years. I remember having one as a kid that we used forever! My nephew got some kind of indoor tunnel when he turned 1 that was a big hit. It folded up when he wasn't using it, so it didn't take a lot of space.

If you're looking for a keepsake kind of thing, my grandma got both our babies a silver cup with their names engraved. It was special to me, since she got one for me when I was a baby, too. Still have it, 30 years later.

Thanks for the ideas. DH thinks the wagon is an accident waiting to happen (if I let DDs pull them in it gently). Still on the fence..

    Any more ideas?
    I like the engravable cup.

I'm planning on getting a nice piece of framed canvas for each girl. We'll trace their hands on it each year to mark their growth. In a few years I'll let them decorate the frames.

Easier to display than a wall chart (and a bit classier IMHO -- some of those wall charts are downright tacky).

That's a good idea. Great keepsake, too.
