I am only 18 weeks, but I am so tired that I feel as if i can't do anything. Will this pass or just get worse? Is this something that I need to tell my Dr? I feel bad for my 3 year old bc I dont even want to take her to the park to sit on the bench...

I think it is something that comes and goes. I get alot of discomfort and become very tired when the babies are having a growth spurt. I also felt as if I hit a brick wall right around 20 weeks. It turned out my iron level dropped. I have been told that your iron level can drop significantly between 20-24 weeks. I just went through another week of being exhausted, but I have started to come out of it again the last day or two.

You will have good days and bad days -- have you been feeling this tired all through the first trimester? If so, then it's probably just general fatigue -- definitely been there! But, if it came on suddenly, I would ask the doctor to check your iron again -- you might be getting anemic and need a supplement.

I have a 3-year-old as well, and some days I just can't get off the couch, and I really can't sit on the floor and play with her....we compensate by playing a million games of CandyLand, Cariboo, Dora Dominoes, etc. on the coffee table, while I stay reclined on the couch. But yeah, other than the occasional trip to the mall to meet a friend, I don't take her out much anymore, either -- I do send her to storytime at the library with DH, though. And, she has preschool two mornings a week, so that helps....

Wish I knew what to tell you! At 26 weeks, I'm not noticeably more tired than at 18 weeks, but just MUCH bigger and more awkward, so I do a lot less these days.

FWIW, I would come home and sleep from 4 pm to 7 am, with maybe a midnight snack. My DH thought I was an alien. My best advice is to walk or do some light excercise. You need it to get you going. It will also help balance everything out. The tiredness will fade over time, to be replaced with the joy of movement (the babies) and the aches and pains of carrying two. I would love to do it all again, just not anytime soon!

I started feeling that way around 18 weeks. I was still working at the time and I used to work on Sundays. I remember practically crying to DH about having to go to work, I was just soooo tired. I can't say it got better but I just got to the point where I knew that I couldn't do as much and that's when I stopped working. Then little by little the other activities went also like grocery shopping or going to the mall. Now I'm at the point where I can't do laundry or the dishes unless there is only a few. Thank God DH is a neat freak and likes to do all that stuff anyway. If I don't push myself I don't feel as bad. Even though I am at home all day, I take at least 1 if not 2 naps a day. I don't have other children so I can't even imagine how hard it is but try not to feel bad, from everything that I have been told a twin pregnancy is completely different from a singleton pregnancy.

I am sorry you are in trouble with this, but to be honest, I am glad I am not the only one. I think what we are going through is normal because everybody has had it at some point.
