I had my 18-week ultrasound today, and it was so cool!

We were in there for over an hour. The tech dug around and showed us all kinds of body parts. We saw all four legs and arms. Could see the hearts, stomachs, kidneys, diaphrams, brains, lips and noses. She measured the heads and said they are very close in size and showing as late-18 weekers. Heartbeats were 147 for Twin A and 153 for Twin B. Twin B waved at us and yawned for us. Twin A was quite acrobatic and flipped over once.

I found out why I seem to be feeling more movement from Twin A - he's head down but Twin B is breech. What a relief! I was terrified that something was wrong with Twin B.

The tech said they'll have the report done (lengths, weights, etc.) by tomorrow. YAY!

The only "small" concern was that she couldn't see a separation in the placentas. She could see the membrane separating the babies, though, so hopefully that's a good sign.

Glad it went so well. It is so much fun seeing them :) That is good you now know why you feel one more than the other. I hope everything is fine with regards to the placentas.

Yay! By 18 wks, I think a lot of placentas are fused together anyway, so it would be hard to see a seperation at that point. May not necessarily be cause for alarm.
Are you keeping the sexes a secret?

Great! Ultrasounds are one of the highlights of pregnancy. Did you find out if boys/girls????

Is it possible they share a placenta? My boys did but they thankfully had a membrane separating them. There would be a concern for twin to twin transfusion syndrome if they share a placenta, but they'll monitor you closely if that is the case... do you know the sexes or if they're identical/fraternal?? Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy- it's such a special time!

We already knew, because we had CVS testing done, but both are BOYS! I keep meaning to call the testing center to ask if they can tell frat/ID from that.

The tech yesterday said not to tell her what they were to see if she could get it right. She had it within 30 seconds. Dang!
