My girls are 18 months old! We had their well-baby visit last week and I was pleasantly surprised that there were no shots. This was especially good since I had to take them by myself. The girls are still very small, but growing well. Here are the stats:

    Annelise
    19 pounds, 1 ounce
    30 inches tall

    Karina
    18 pounds, 8 ounces
    31 inches tall

The doctor did want us to see the audiologist to rule out hearing problems since they have a history of ear infections (and tubes) and are not saying any words yet. We had the appointment on Wednesday and their hearing is fine. We're checking with Early Intervention to see if they can get a speech eval. They already receive PT services through EI, but I really don't think they need them anymore since they are meeting all their goals for their adjusted age. But I guess since they haven't recommended we stop services, we won't yet. I guess I'm not overly concerned about their speech just yet because their receptive language is good. They'll go get objects I tell them to find. I think they'll probably just start talking one day and then I won't be able to get them to be quiet!

I was really proud of myself for not only taking them to the doctor by myself, but also managing to take them to McDonald's for lunch afterwards. They did so well! I left them in their stroller, put a disposable bib on them, and just handed them one fry or bit of chicken nugget at a time. There was really no mess and no fussing. I couldn't ask for more! They shared a fruit and yogurt parfait for dessert and were in 7th heaven. I wished I had audio of all the "happy yummy" noises they were making. :)

Well, thanks for letting me share. Here are a couple of photos I took this morning at the park:

bravo Beth, beautiful pics and good stats...and you're right about the speech, some kids just start a bit later...I wouldn't worry. I am always thinking about mine and speech especially because we raise them bilingual, but they do say 5-6 words in each language.

good for you for doing McDonalds and pedi alone, it does give us more confidence when we can do all that by ourselves, right ?

hugs and see you on FB!
