    Hi Ladies,

My son has been sick with a sinus infection which caused the ear infection. However, he weight 26 lbs and 8 oz. w/32 inches. But we only had him "in" for the appointment. They'll be getting their official appointment in 2 weeks once they both feeling better since they have to do 1 shot.

Anyway, I asked the nurse if they can weight my daughter, Rianna. She's been getting heavier on me lately. To my shock, she weight at 28 lbs and 4 oz. and possibly at 30-1/2 inches. She is a big girl w/big bone on the upper torso like her Dad's side of the family.

Is 28 lbs a lot for 18 months old? My husband worried about the way she chopped down everything time she eat. I told him that it is normal and she'll probably will have a growth spurt very soon.

    Any advice for me?

My DD was about 30 lbs at her 18 month visit, and even taller than your daughter (can't remember exactly how tall) She was at the top of the percentiles for both. Both DH and myself are tall, but neither are obese, so I think she will just be a tall girl with a weight proportioned to that height.
My DS (her twin) has always been a few pounds less than her.
    Don't worry!

Thanks for assurance! They have always maintain the same weight since 6 mos old and only an inch different until now. I may be wrong -- she may be 31 inches but I'll find out for sure when we go back to the DR appt soon. Daddy's side family is tall over 6'3" and big bone (w/long torso). She has been wearing 24 mos (top) and 18 mos (pants) but that depends since she has a belly like her Daddy. <wink>

    Thanks for reading in,
    Diana

    Diana,

You should not be worried at all. They are good and healthy. My girls weighed just about the same at their 18 month check up as yours but at almost 2 years, they haven't really gained anything since. I just took them recently to the ped because they were sick and they always weigh them and I was so surprised that they haven't gained anything in almost 6 months. They still eat pretty much the same but they are more and more active. My girls have always been in the 95th percentile with both their height and weight. I have a feeling at their next appt. that they will be in a lower precentile for the first time since they have gained pretty much nothing in a 6 month period.
