Hi...I'm new to twinstuff and after my last u/s I had to reach out to other Mommy's expecting twins for some advice.

I'm 17 weeks with dizygotic twins and at my appt. yesterday the Dr. referred me to a specialist. He's concerned about the size of Baby A's g. sac. Baby B seems to have plenty of room, where Baby A seems extremely cramped already. The baby has continued to grow and has a strong heartbeat (144, actually stronger than B's), yet my Dr. believes he will be out of room. I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear about an appt. with the specialist. I asked my doctor what he thought could be done and he said nothing, I would just have to wait. I asked what happens when Baby B runs out of room to grow and he told me that sometimes they won't survive. That's such a terribly hard thing to hear. We want these babies so badly and feel that they are such a blessing.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has heard of this. And any prayers would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Don't give up on finding some kind of answers. . . I'm struggling with TTTS with mono/di twins, and while it's a different thing, I think I've learned that seeking out the experience of others and trying to get answers is worth it.

I hope someone here can share a similar experience, and hang in there!

I've experienced this since week 8 and got some excellent advice that is meant for TTTS, but seems to work to help sac sizes in dichorionic, as well. It really helped me. We are still working on it, but after 1 week of doing this there was a remarkable difference.

I drank 3-4 Boost/Ensure High Protein drinks per day. They are meant to be sipped very slowly, just a few swallows every 20 minutes or so. This ensures adequate protein at all times for your little ones. A lack of protein contributes to issues with processing fluids so doing these drinks helps the cellular issues caused by dehydration.

I spent as much time as possible lying on my left side. I was meant to do full left-side bed rest but it was really difficult for me because I had too many things that had to be done, but nobody else to do it. A minimum of 3 hours a day plus sleeping on the left side during the night would make a difference. This ensures better blood flow to the uterus.

I hope that if you try this that you'll experience the same results we're experiencing. :hug99:

[SIZE=12pt]Wow...I can't thank you enough for all of your replies...it means so much to have support of others. I wish I would've accessed this site earlier. I'm reading "Twinspiration" and it mentions twinstuff.com quite regularly, with great praise.

Lizzybo...I think I'll try the Boost/Ensure drinks...why not, it can't hurt. Thanks again, all of you have brightened my day.

I also have an issue with one of my twins. Baby A (my little girl) is running a few weeks behind. As of my last u/s on March 7, she was 3 weeks behind. I was scheduled for an u/s on Friday, but it got pushed back to next Friday. She is quite feisty, so hopefully she will be ok. Basically, our high risk doctor told us that 1. she could just be small, 2. She could have some kind of birth defect, or 3. she might not make it to birth. They will keep watching and evaluating the situation. If they think she will do better outside at 32 weeks they will take them both out. He did want to warn me that she might die and not make it.

I am wondering if the Ensure will help with my situation.

I am so sorry you are going through this. :hug99: Definitely try some of the methods that moms with TTTS use: drink 2 Ensure/Boost a day, drink LOTS of water (minimum 50 oz a day), lay on your left side as much as possible, rest-rest-rest, and eat protein. I also at A LOT of nutrient-rich food every day and I'm convinced that really helped in my situation. I made sure to get a minimum of 4 good size servings of dairy, 3 protein, 7 fruits/vegetables, and 6-8 grains each day before I would eat anything that could be defined as a treat. I had TTTS and my donor baby also had a 2-vessel umbilical cord so she was not getting enough nutrients twice over and that led to big difference in her amniotic fluid levels compared to her sister's. We never should have been able to make it to 30 weeks, much less 35, but we did and were able to stay away from surgery with this regimen. Good luck and we'll keep your little one's growth in our prayers!
