Hi everyone. Next week, we have our 17 week ultrasound on the 4-D machine. Our ob warned us that it is likely that they will find some area of concern and that we should not be alarmed necessarily. However, having heard that comment, just makes me very anxious for this appointment. We haven't had an u/s since 9 weeks so I am already so anxious to make sure the babies are developing well. I assume many of you have experienced this scan already and just curious if you had any false or real alarms from it?

The good news is that we will learn the genders!!! :)

    thanks!

Wow. I'm always amazed at the morbid comments that some of these docs make. I did not have a 17 week but I did have a 20 week anomaly scan which was verrrrry thorough and they found absolutely nothing of concern. Please dont worry.

How exciting to find out the sexes!! :yahoo:

That was a really silly comment to make on the Dr's part?! :umm: Not sure why he would say that?!

The thorough scans are AWESOME - enjoy it momma!!

I agree with everyone the comment your doc made was unnecessary. I did have 17 week u/s and 20 week and they found nothing that should be a concern.

Try not to worry and enjoy your u/s they are amazing.

 Why would he say that to you? Very odd. I wouldn't stress to much on his comment, he has no way of knowing so please don't take it too seriously. Good luck and enjoy!!

My ob is a new father of twins himself (9 mo old) so I think he sometimes gives his personal experience when I ask him questions. I guess they found something during their 18 week scan and it turned out to be nothing. He was probably trying to tell me so I wouldn't freak out if they gave me less than good news. Who knows! :)

I guess that could be it, but he needs to learn to keep his experiences to himself and not freak out a new mommy of twins.

Wow, how exciting! I can't imagine what downside there would be to the scan unless you already knew there were abnormalities. All that will happen will be the normal measurements that will take place with all your other scans..nothing to worry about.

The only negative thing about my 20 week scan was that I got really winded from being on my back for so long and they had to roll me over onto my side. My little ones were not terribly cooperative so we were there for nearly 2 hours!!
