15 month old fear of the bathtub?

My 15 month old boy is all of a sudden upset whenever we get near the bathtub. Lots of screaming ensuing most of the time while in the tub. We normally do baths after dinner, then put on pj's, then give sippies of milk right after.

Even on nights where I don't wash hair or dump water on his head, he is crying and upset. Water temp is fine, not too warm, not too cold. Nothing has changed-same toys in the tub, shared bath time with sister.

Should I accept he hates baths and try to shower with him? I can't see that going any better as he hates the water on his head. Is it a phase? Is he just freaking out because he wants his milk so badly? Should I try a different time of day?

Problem is that showering means I need another person around to watch my little girl, who gets into EVERYTHING if I leave her alone for a minute.

Just frustrated. I thought all kids loved the bath, and I like it as part of our wind down routine. I assumed it would be soothing and help them relax while in there. Maybe I am wrong.

 

I would try milk before the bath. Also, put your DD in her crib for a few minutes if you do end up needing to shower him when you are alone.

 

I agree with this. I'd also suggest to try some bath toys if you haven't already. My kids really liked bath time tadoodles. Good luck!

 

I would try this. Get him naked but use a wash cloth and wash him next to the tub while your DD plays in the tub. Then, get him dressed and let him watch her in the tub from your lap. Showering him could make him more afraid. In time, he will want to go back in but he needs to see that is safe before he does this.
