I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions- one of my guys since last week has become really fussy when I try to feed him. He will turn his head and use his tongue to spit his bottle out and cry. When I remove the bottle he puts his hands to his mouth like he is starving so I try to give him the bottle again and he throws a fit again. It is worse at the bedtime feeding. Both boys are on Similac and have been since they were born and I havent had any prior problems with Adam. He is a really happy good baby any other time except now when I feed him. He hasnt been spitting up which at first I thought maybe it was bothering his tummy. Im just wondering if its just a temper or if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

I wonder if he has gas. I think calling the ped is a good idea. He/she would give some great insight. I'm sorry I don't have more advice :hug99: .

I was also wondering if it was gas. You may want to call your pedi and see what he/she has to say about it.

Mine are about the same age as yours and both have done the same thing occasionally. Lately my daughter has been doing it at almost every night time feeding (last feeding before we put her to bed). I'm like how does she always know it's that time again?? We don't know what it is, but sometimes if I take her in another room, wrap her in her swaddle blanket and rock her while feeding she will calm down and finish. So far I'm thinking she's just overtired. But we're still trying to figure it out. Good luck!

We will be talking to their pedi about this on Wednesday. Dillon has gotten very hard to feed. Let us know if you talk to their pedi and what you find out.

    Good luck!!!

It sounds like acid reflux to me, you may want to check on that. Mine would scream and fuss through his entire feeding. I nursed and fed ebm and the only thing that helped him was adding rice to his ebm. Check with pedi, trying some different formula may also help.

That is good you are going in today. Thrush can be cleared up pretty easily, so that is good.

Is there always a lot of spit up with acid reflux?

My one guy has silent reflux and he hardly ever spits up. Prior to the mdication he would fight me during feedings, arch his back and lock his arms and legs. Now he eats like a champ.

When my little guy was doing that he actually had a double ear infection. He never had a fever. We just noticed he wasn't eating well and had a cough. Maybe eventually he would have had a fever, but we caught it in time. Just a suggestion. Also my first son was 4 months old when his first tooth pushed through. However he started teething at around 3 months. And was a bear to feed. Let us know what you find out.

Well the doctor couldnt find anything wrong with him. Said it could be Adam showing his independence/giving attitude. she said to keep an eye on him but he gained 8 oz in 10days and is pooping fine but she said they are the main signs of problems and also spitting up which he doesnt do. Hopefully thats all it is , is attitude!!!! :D

My son is the same age as yours and does EXACTLY what you described. He had thrush before and it is not that. My daughter has silent reflux and I don't think it is that. I really think that he is overly tired and gets frustrated with his bottle. I notice that if we hold him close and tight and have him focus on our face this seems to calm him down and the bottle goes down better. We also darken the room for that feed and keep things quiet. I hope this helps you some.

Since it's only happening at one feeding a day, this probably isn't the problem, but in case it's helpful, one of my boys started fighting and fussing during feedings. We switched to the next nipple size, and after a little adjustment, he was back to eating like a champ, and both boys actually increased the amount they ate per feeding and have sustained it. So we think he was frustrated at the slow flow of his bottle. We made the switch at about 14 or 15 weeks.

    Good luck!

That's exactly what I was going to say. Our one daughter started really fussing and fighting us at feedings and once we switched to level two nipples and she got the hang of them, everything was great again. GL!
