    Hi-
I just had my 12w US with a peri. They couldnt find the membrane between my 2 that are identical. The peri is 90% sure that there is no membrane. So basically what I have is momamniotic twins with a singleton. He did call them diamniotic/dichrionic (sp?). But he said this is VERY rare. I am so scared of the mo/mo thing. Im so scared for my babies. I have to go in every 2 weeks for an US with a peri. He said they will watch me like a hawk, and to tentatively plan on early hospitalization and very probaly early delivery depending on whether or not we have any cord entanglement.I need some happy stories from some mo/mo moms out there!

so sorry that they haven't spotted the membrane...any word on possible conjoinment?? I think you mentioned that as a possible concern before... Hopefully, not. Triplet pg seems complicated on it's own without having to deal with all of this... Are you off working already?... did they start you up on protein drinks for sure?

They are for sure NOT conjoined! Yeah! Protien drinks yes but he said that TTTS is much rarer in mo/mo twins so that is good..And Im not working....

That's so good to hear!! And how great that TTTS is so much rarer... you wouldn't think that, just b/c they are so close..but I guess it has to do with the fluid levels in each separate sac as well as the placenta...so there is one slight advantage for momo twins... At least it's not all bad news! My mom tells me that my sister and I were in the same sac...back in 79...no u/s and we turned out fine... we weren't delivered early b/c no one knew it was twins. So there's a positive momo story for you. hopefully they like to stay in the same position...no dancing around each other and those cords!! Glad you aren't working..and are still drinking the protein drinks...regardless of tts, I'm sure it will help put on the weight in the event of an early birth.

Congratulations on the triplets. I realize that this is very risky pregnancy but thank God for modern medicine. I'm sure they will take care of you and your babies as best they can. There was actually a story of mo/mo twins on the baby story the other day (or was it bringing home baby?). The mother was hospitalized quite early (I think around 24 weeks?) so that they could monitor the babies' heart rates constantly. As soon as one dipped, they did an emerg c-section. I think that was around 32 weeks. They showed the cords and they were quite tangled, but they did fine. I'm glad they are already preparing you for early hospitalization.

Please keep us posted on your progress. I will be looking out for your updates and will keep you and your 3 little miracles in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry they didn't find a membrane - but it sounds like they have a good plan of action for you. One thing to note, I know of people who didn't find their membrane until almost 26 weeks....and another that NEVER found a membrane, but after making it to 32 weeks with NO signs of intaglement, they started to assume there was one there somewhere! I don't know if you've looks at monoamniotic.org -- its a great site with lots of great info - and LOTS of stories of mo/mo twins with happy endings. One thing to note too - some people actually thing that mo/mo twins as part of a trip pregancy actually do better, because the "run out of room" earlier, therefor lessing the chance of cord intanglement.

I know you'll have a lot of people praying for you and you little ones....

Thanks everyone. Im trying hard to stay super positive. I know that is important. The Dr did say to prepare for birth at 32 weeks providing there are no complications. THey will hopsitalize me as soon as they see any fetal distress and will deliver as soon as possible if any fetal distress is noticed. I feel good about the Dr. He was great. I will really look into that website, Monoamniotic.org now. Ive kinda breezed through it before and the Dr gave me some GREAT info. NOW, those lil guys need to stay nice and calm.... ;)

I am sorry to hear that you are concerned, but from what I understand there are many twins that share thier amniotic sac without a membrane... Not that I know much about it, I am sure that the fact that they want to see you often is to monitor how things are going to give you and your babies the best possible care. You and your family will and have been in my thoughts. In fact, I just took the Marvelous Multiples class and they did have some resources for triplet moms. Here is what they gave:

    The Triplet Connection: http://www.inreach.com/triplets/index.shtml
    email to: [email protected]

    MOST Mothers of Supertwins: http://mostonline.org
    email to: [email protected]

Also, if you can, try finding a Marvelous Multiples class in your area. I thought it was really great to find other women experiencing many of the same things I am in my local area.

Nicole, I am sorry to hear that they didn't find that membrane today, but at least your fears of them being conjoined were put to rest. One thing at a time right.... :hug99:

You know - at my 12 w appt - they didn't find a membrane either. They think they found one at 16 weeks... now they can't find it again (maybe due to TTTS though) - but sometimes if they're floating they're so hard to see!

    you just never know!

I'm sorry, I know this was not the news you were hoping for. But it sounds like you are in excellent hands, and you are doing great by keeping positive. I will be wishing the best for you and babies.

Thanks everyone. It is just one day at a time. Hard for me. I am a very planned person. I will be going inpatient at 24w so there is a plan in place...Just hard to wait. At least there is no cord entanglement as of today. I am thankful for that. Keep the great stories coming.....

I am so sorry you have this stress! I know there was a lady due a little later than me who delivered her twins at 38 weeks just fine. And they did not even know they were momo's until delivery. I believe she was in the Phillipines. I'll pray for you all!! Congratulations on the triplets!

I delivered momo girls are 32 weeks. I also went in-patient at 26 weeks until delivery. It can be done and is very hard. it is definitly worth it. My girls are 14 months and thriving. I see that you did go to the mono website.

Best of luck - please feel free to email me if you need anything.

I know that you did not hear the news that you were looking for, but it sounds like you have proactive doctors and that you will get excellent monitoring. Focus on the things that you can control (rest, hydration, diet, etc.) and seek out others that have gone through something similar (like at monoamniotic.org). Keep us updated. You have such a truly unique pregnancy and we can all learn from you!
