Hi! Wondering at what age you all started using 123 magic. I know the program says age 2, but did anyone use it sooner? What do you like/dislike about the program or how did you modify it?

Good luck!! It's a good one!!

Didn't work for me well until after age 2.5-3...my ds didn't really comprehend the consequences until then. When I would start to count he would continue on like 3..4...5, and then smile really cute...HA! It started working more when he got a little older.. :p

  4. I started with the boys before they were two but they had already seen it in place with their sisters so they were more aware of it.

I started at 2- and honestly it's still a work in progress.

We started around 18 months. DD caught on long before DS. At 26 months, they both seem to "get it" and will stay in the time-out place. Now that they are understanding it more, we have far fewer timeouts than we did when we were starting.

We just heard Dr. Phalan (sp?) speak last night at our local library. He is really entertaining! :p
We started with 1-2-3 Magic at 18 months per the recommendation of our pediatrician. OUr DS was a stinker and would look at us and laugh when he did things that were naughty! What really helped was using the Pac-N-Play as the time out area at this age. There was NO way he would sit for more than 2 sec. We still used the Pac-N_Plays when we traveled and never had any problems.

    Good luck!

Dr. Phalen spoke at my twins group last year. He said you can start as early as 18 months, but he finds that at 2years you will get a better response. I started at 18 months - just a 90 second time out. And, it seems to have helped.
