Lately, my one little guy will not stay in the time out corner. Is it ok to strap him into his booster chair and face it to the wall? If I do this, he will throw a MAJOR tantrum. Do I then just leave him in there until he totally calms down?

    Thanks!

You certainly could and I have, but we have recently gone to putting them in their room for time out and it's worked great. Looks like your kids are just a little bit older than mine. The counting stops things more quickly and the tantrums often stop when we close the door. Mason will sometimes immediately stop crying and stand at the door for the remainer of TO period saying "I no crying Mommy". Logan throws many, many fewer tantrums now. It's evidently not quite as much fun if there is no audience! We do have one of the door knob covers on the inside of the door so they can't get out.

Before we moved TO to the room we would put them in the chair, sit with them, or stand over them for the duration (often longer than normal because of escape attempts). Good luck!

I put them in their room for "quiet time" and it works great and I make sure to explain why they are up there. I do plan on getting a TO chair at some point but this is working really well for us right now.

Our are older (4 years old), but we use their rooms for time out most of the time. On occasion, if more convenient, we use a time out chair.

We strapped them into a booster chair (on the floor) when they were younger....when we first started TO's (around 18 months). Just like the others, we now use their rooms.

I currently use the booster seats b/c I can't figure out how to keep them in one spot otherwise... gets a bit trickier now that they go around buckling all the buckles on the booster seats once they are out! but that's what we still do. Not sure about us using their room. I can only imagine all chaos happening... but then again, maybe it works b/c you are totally removing them from the family and current situation?
