    Hello,

This is my first post. I am currently 12 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins after one round of clomid and IUI. My last appointment was at 8 weeks with my fertility doctor. I had pain in my side at 10 weeks and went to the hospital where they did and emergency Ultrasound. They would not let me see the ultrasound while it was being done so I got no reassurance. The doctor said everything was fine, both babies look good and heartbeats are normal. My first OB appointment was that same day so I went and he did not even do an internal exam. He just asked if we wanted Downs testing and we went home. My last ultrasound was at 8 weeks which was a month ago and my next appointment isnt for two more weeks. I'm starting to get anxious and worried because I'm starting to feel like my belly is getting smaller and I'm sleeping better which has been difficult for me. My doctor said that I will be getting an ultrasound once a month but it's going to be one month and two weeks. Is this a normal worry? Also, do you think they will be able to tell the sexes at the next ultrasound?

Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to Twinstuff!

It sounds like you're having a fairly "routine" twin pregnancy. That's great! My girls were mono di, but our doctor took a very relaxed approach to twin pregnancies until there presented a reason to increase monitoring. You might ask at your appointment in two weeks what your long-term care plan looks like. And, as hard as it is, try not to worry over the size of your belly. As they babies shift and grow and adjust to the tightening space you'll continue to change size and shape. I looked like I had a torpedo belly for the longest time!

14 weeks is on the early end for an anatomy scan, but you might get lucky! It gets harder to see the relevant parts as the babies grow (again, a lack of space). I'll cross my fingers and toes for some cooperative kiddos!

Good luck and keep us posted!

I don't think you are having too few u/s right now- I know they are reassuring but if you think about it, you've had 2 before 12 weeks. Some women don't have any until 20. There is a wide range of normal. :)

As to your belly, it'll get huge. You'll get there. Relish the ability to move unencumbered and sleep on your stomach (if it's not uncomfortable yet). A lot of your belly now isn't them, it's bloating.

My OB at 11 weeks said he thought I was having "at least 1 boy". He was dead right. If you google "angle of the dangle" it provides info on early gender prediction. :)
    Finally, :welcome: to TS!

I think you are fine. I had 2 ultrasounds from 8-10 weeks for bleeding then nothing until 20 weeks. Had I had no bleeding my first scan would have been at 20 weeks. As for an internal my OB's don't like to play around down there until it gets closer to the time. I had my first internal done at 24 weeks but only because I went into Pre term labour otherwise my OB wouldn't have done one until week 36. Congrats and good luck!

Hi! I know its hard not to worry (esp when conceiving is a challenge), but the flip side is that I have had complications and have had a lot of US- too many. I know it's hard to do sometimes, but be thankful that things are progressing nicely and you don't need more than that. As for internals, I have also had to have 3 so far at 22w and wish for no more--it is best for you and babies not to have anyone in there poking around. Hang in there and best wishes for you!

I had one at 6w (when we found out), one at 12w for genetic testing, then 20 weeks (big one), 26 weeks, 30 weeks, and 34 weeks. I was considered normal risk.

I think you have fewer u/s if you just see your OB. If you see a peri as well as your OB you will have more frequent u/s. And I think a lot of it depends on your insurance as well. I know my insurance would only cover one u/s with my regular OB, however with my peri they would cover a growth u/s at every visit (every 4 weeks). That said, when I had an appt. at 13w with my peri the tech did tell me she *thought* Baby B was a boy, said the baby looked a little thick between the legs (we took it with a grain of salt since it was so early). She was right, Baby B was a boy. So they might be able to tell, but it might not be accurate at that point.
