Hi everyone! Just thought I'd update on our u/s today. Everything went great - it's amazing how much the baby has already changed in just 2 weeks!!! Of course the u/s tech couldn't tell us that the baby was perfectly ok, but she said that anything that she measured that was under a 3 was good news on her end and the pocket that she measured on the baby was a 2 for us. So that much was good news. The final results will be in once the blood work has been analyzed too and that takes about a week. I just think it is so neat how quickly technology changes - they didn't even offer this test with Samuel and Grace just 2 1/2 years ago! Has anyone else ever has this test done? Just curious if everyone else's turned out well too.

I never did any testing with either of my pregnancies. 12wk one nuchal fold measurement wasn't even offered, though I would have declined anyway. quad screen was offered, but I declined that. I did have an u/s at 12 wks with Rebecca though, but that was just offered by the doc as a reassurance everything was OK with the baby (i.e., heart was still beating). I loved the chance to get an extra peak at her. Glad everything turned out well for you!

I didn't get it offered either. Like Jackie and pretty much everyone, I was automatically given the quad screen.

I had the 12wk u/s with Brandon. It came out fine. We have an increased risk for downs due to an aunt that had it.

    Glad everything looks good!
We didn't have that blood work. The hospital said there is such a high incidence of false positives with more than one baby, so they don't recommend it (unless you really want it and are prepared for a potential false positive).

I had the blood draw with both pregnancies, but back when I had the twins, there wans't an optoin of the 11 wk or 12 wk (whatever it is) u/s to test the nuchal fold.

I remember going in when I found out I was preg with Olivia that I had to sign a paper where I could use the blood draw, 12 wk nuchal fold u/s, or amniocentesis (I was SHOCKED that was an option, but the nurse said things have really changed) to check for downs and trisomy. I opted for the blood screen...however, I wish, looking back that I had opted for the u/s b/c my dr. ONLY does one at 9 weeks and that was the ONLY u/s I got from my OB. UGH! We paid to go have a 3D/4D at 20 weeks, best money I've ever spent.

I opted out of the test your are talking about. I looked at the procedure in a different light. If something was wrong, would I want that to effect the way I felt about my baby now, no. Would it change things, no, so I opted out. I also had heard and seen about too many false positives!

Thanks for all of the replies. We mainly decided to do this test because my nephew, who is only 10 months old, has some chromosonal disorders. We just wanted to be able to educate ourselves if something was going on with this baby. I would NEVER, NEVER do anything to terminate the pregnancy even if something did come back saying that it had a disorder. I love this child and it is what God has blessed me with, so I could never harm it in any way. I have actually never had any other test similiar to this done, not even the quad screen, but since we now know that their may be some chromosonal issues in our family, we decided to check it out. I'll let you know the results when they come in, hopefully this week. Thanks again!
