Hallie is still not crawling and I am wondering if I should be worried... Lauren army crawls everywhere, but Hallie is really not very interested. She just started "swimming" when she's on her tummy, but I just don't know what to do to help her. Any ideas? Is she the only 11 monther not crawling???

NO of course not! Lots of babies do not crawl at 11 months... I believe that most pedis would tell you that by 14-15 months, if they have not tried to crawl or pull up, that they would have concerns and send them for testing. I think the "swimming" shows that she is on her way! :)

I wouldn't worry either. My son has been a superstar with army crawling, crawling, pulling up, standing and walking along. My daughter JUST finally started to army crawl over Memorial Day weekend (11 month mark). We did have them examined by state to be sure (and since it's free) and the physical therapist said the following (as it sounds similar to my daughter).

    1. If she is doing the superman/stomach kick... she is getting prepped to make that move. Not to worry.
    2. Upper body strength needs to be built up. To help with this, put her on all fours and make sure her palms and fingers are flat. And then rock her back and forth on her knees. Do this a few times a day. We did with our daughter and I think it really helped...as she is now army crawling.
    3. From #2, move her to a sitting position to help with that area too.

Do not worry... I am sure she is just fine!

It just makes you cringe when people say oh my baby did this at such and such age, sorta mocking the fact that yours hasn't yet...

I always say babies develop differently, so really there is no need to compare them.

I would definitely point it out to your DR though, and see if he/she has any reason for concern.

My boys did not crawl until after their 1st b-day, and they didn't walk until 16 and 20 months, so try not to worry. I know it's hard, especially when one is doing something and other one isn't. And now that you've posted this, you'll probably have a crawler and/or walker soon!

All babies do different things at different times. I have a friend and both of her children crawled and walked late. Her daughter was 19 months before she walked. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with her. She is about to start kindergarten now and she is perfect. Her son is fine too.

It is normal to worry. Just ask your pedi, but I am sure they will be fine. I worry about my twins too. Jonah does all the pulling, standing stuff so I worry because Jenna doesn't. And Jenna does all the "tricks" - waving at everyone, playing peek-a-boo, pat a cake and Jonah doesn't. I won't tell you not to worry because we all worry constantly about our kids, but I will tell you that I think those girls are going to be just fine.

I agree that she is showing signs of getting ready for crawling with the swimming motions. I would ask the ped if you are concerned, if nothing else, it will give you some reassurance, which is always nice! :hug99:
