The girls go to bed 8:30 - 9:00 and wake up around 7 a.m. for the taxi ride around town. (dropping the kids off at school)
But they both still wake up in the middle of the night. Sometimes Isabella wakes up, sometimes Sophia wakes up. But NEVER have they BOTH slept all the way through the night. They drink an ounce of milk and go right back to sleep. Sometimes Sophia will just sit up and cry and then go back to sleep.

So how do I get them to sleep ALL NIGHT without waking up???? I think they are too old for a 3 o'clock bottle and they don't even drink it, but boy do they throw a fit if we don't get it for them.

What to do, what to do???

My ped told me today at the babies' 6 month check up that they do not nutritionally need to eat during the night anymore. I have one twin that still wakes 2-3 times. He said that when calories are ingested the brain is programmed to wake the body and get calories at that time. He suggested that we give him a bottle of water. He said that Daddy should give it to him since I am still breast feeding. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to give it a try tonight.

I would also try to soothe without feeding, especially since they are only eating an ounce. Maybe just rub their back for a few minutes or soothe them in some other way. Getting them to sleep all night, without waking up at all, sometimes takes quite awhile. My 3 year olds will still often wake in the night for one reason or another. :pardon:

I would definitely try to find a new way to calm them down other than the bottle and if that doesn't work I would do CIO. I don't know if you are against or in favor of CIO. Also, if they are getting up for the day at 7 am I would move their bedtime up to 7 pm.

The issue isn't getting them to sleep straight through, it's having them learn that they can go back to sleep without you when they wake up. Most adults even wake up once or twice during the night. From your other post it sounds like your new walls will help you!

    I would do CIO, personally.

Yep, me too. Its not worth it for one ounce. If they were taking more, I would say keep feeding. Lord knows I did. But if they had only been taking an ounce and going back to sleep I would have bit the bullet and done the CIO.

It sounds like a comfort to them knowing if they wake they can have a bottle to soothe them back to sleep. I vote for giving them a bottle of water. Once they realize that's what they're going to get, it may not be so tempting to wake up for. I never did CIO but it may be definitely worth a try if they are 11 months old. Good luck!

We tried the bottle of water idea with DD and she did not buy it. She just got mad and cried. She was waking up every 1-3 hours at 7 months old. We ended up doing a modified version of CIO. She still wakes up sometimes, but doesn't expect to be fed. We check, console, and leave. (I do feed her if she wakes up after 4 am. You may not need to do this since your LOs are older than mine).
