    Hi!

Thanks for reading...I know this has been discussed before, but I could not seem to find the thread. This is the highest temp my DS has had and I am starting to get worried...It is day two and his temp has gone a UP a bit. I have given motrin (last night) and tylenol this morning? Can you give me some advice? Thanks so much!!!!

I'm no expert here, but my kids' pediatrician told us to call if either of them has a temperature that is going up, not down, after 24 hours. Or... call if I am worried even if the temperature is staying the same.

Your pediatrician expects to get calls - you'd be amazed how often some people call and ask questions. So I say give a call. There's probably nothing wrong, and nothing the pediatrician can do, but it might put your mind at ease.

I would call, to be safe. Is the Motrin/Tylenol bringing it down? I know my pedi would say if it is bringing it down, watch it for a day or two. But call, just to be safe.

I called! Thanks, Everyone! We are going in this afternoon. He is taking liquids and seems to be a good mood. I hope it goes away soon. Thanks for your advice!!!

I always call if it reaches 103 and does not come down with Tylenol and Motrin (you can give both at the same time and then alternate...giving Tylenol every 4-6 hours and Motrin every 6-8 hours...since they are different medications they can't overdose on it and they each work differently to bring down a fever).

    Hope your appointment goes well.

I hope he's feeling better very soon. We deal with very high fevers here. I guess it depends on who has the high fever, as to when I call. My middle DS gets the very high ones, over 106. But as long as I can get them to come down to around 103 with tylenol, motrin, and baths, then I'm ok dealing with them on my own. Oh and lots of popcicles. :)

    Thanks, Everyone!

I am so glad that I took him in...thanks to your advice! He has signs of pneumonia (again!) and is on his nebulizer and antibiotics. Poor little guy! Thanks again!

ETA: I just bought a bunch of popsicles! :D

Hopefully, he will start feeling better soon. I call as soon as a temp reaches 102. My ped doesn't have the "wait on a fever" rule and brings them right in. I have a friend whose daughter had debillitating seizures brought on by a high fever for a few days, so I am a bit paranoid about them.

Glad you took him in. My kids get high fevers like that, but only with some sort of infection. That's usually my sign to go in. Hope he is feeling better. It's amazing what a couple doses of antibiotics can do!
