1 Year announcements

Does anyone send 1 year announcements like you did for their birth? I am just wondering - we live 1,000 miles from relatives and most of our friends and many have never even met our girls. I don't want to send them as if I am expecting a gift, far from it, but I was thinking it may be nice since it is the only updated picture many would get. Who knows when they will ever get to meet them. Did anyone else do this?

 

I have never heard of sending an announcement at one year. The only thing I've ever received from people is party invitations and one year pictures. We didn't send anything in the mail. We did send an evite to their birthday party and we post pictures on our blog for people to see.

 

I wouldn't really send an "announcement", but a picture would be nice. We take portraits every 3 months and I mail them out to all relatives. I do the portraits myself and edit with photoshop so I figure I can shell out the money for stamps to show off my kids

 

Is there a "holiday" near their bday? At first I thought maybe Valentine's day cards, but from your ticker, maybe St. Patrick's day. You could send out a cute photo card from your 1 yr olds. Just thinking out loud. I've never heard of 1st bday announcements either.

 

I think that you could send an update. I did this just randomly and everybody loved it. I did make it is photoshop myself. I just put current pictures of my kids and then I wrote a paragraph about how they were doing and weights, heights etc. This might be a fun alternative. You could even title it 1 Year Update.

I've never done it myself, but I think it sounds like a great idea. I'm sure all your far away relatives & friends would love to get a new picture of your sweet babies!

 

I was going to suggest a Valentine's Day card too! I think the next post sounded neat too, a little update. I always send out picture Christmas cards and a letter, so I guess I kind of do it yearly at Christmas time. Its so much fun to share little tidbits about our babies! enjoy!!!
