We had an u/s yesterday (28 weeks) and it seems our Donor baby (Abbey) has only 1 cm of fluid now. She had 5.1 cm 2 weeks ago. They figure they cured the TTTS but in doing the laser surgery they have cut off some of Abbey's much needed supply of the placenta. Both girls weights were good 2lbs 8 oz and 2 lbs 9.5 oz but Abbey's growth has slowed or is slowing down. All of their blood flows were normal too. I am going for an NST tomorrow and another on Monday and then back to the hospital with bags packed on Wednesday (29 weeks) and if there is no improvement I will be staying in and monitored continuously and it will be day by day when they decide to take the girls out. Not very good news but we are optimistic of their chances at this point. Please tell me your outcomes of delivering around 29-30 weeks and also if this low fluid has happened to anyone else and what the outcome of that was.

This is really too bad because my cercix was measured at 4 cm which means I probably could have kep them in quite a while longer. : (

Many hugs to you - TTTS is terrible. Stay on bedrest and keep your calories protein up and see if you can get some more nutrition to her! I hope they can hold out a bit longer, but at some point, they may be better off out than in! I hope some other moms have some advice fo ryou - but I'm thinking of you!

:hug99: I hope your NST's go well, and you are able to hold them in a while longer. My girls were born at 28 weeks 1 day. Now at 8 months old you would never know that they were 12 weeks premature. They are both perfectly healthy with no lingering effects from their prematurity. Have they given you steroid shots to help with their lung development yet? Feel free to come and visit us over in the NICU twins and Beyond forum if you have any questions or just need support. Good Luck!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Hopefully, her fluid will build up a little in the coming week. Make sure you are eating and drinking as much as you can hold this week to give her the best chance possible to catch up. :hug99:

I will be thinking of you. I hope you make it a good bit further but even 29 weeks I've heard many positive outcomes. I wish you the best.

I'm sorry to hear this news. I hope that the hospital bedrest will be able to keep them in a little longer. My friend delivered her b/g twins at 29 weeks when her water spontaneously broke. She was having a perfect pregnancy, no complications and then BOOM, it broke! They were healthy when born...needed CPAP for a few day (she never had steriod shots) and no major medical issues. They were in the NICU close to 5 weeks, but today they just turned 3 and are pefectly healthy growing toddlers!

    Best of luck to you!

I'm sorry to hear the possibility of an early delivery for you. :hug99: Have you had the steroid shots, if not I would ask for them.

Please feel free to visit the NICU forum there are many success stories there of early deliveries. My twins were born earlier, about 15 weeks premature and are doing fabulous. I had the steroid shots and for being as early as they were they did great and we had a very easy NICU stay. Now at 28 months you would never know they were preemies. Babies born at 29-30 weeks have very good outcomes. :)

Good luck and keep us posted. :hug99:

I am thinking of and praying for you!

I just had my TTTS twins last Friday the 13th after 13 weeks of bedrest. I was able to keep my in until 34 weeks 1 day, but my polyhydramnios got the best of us I think. (I had a cerclage. . . oooh, what I would've given for a cervical length like your's!) Our guys are still in NICU, one coming home possibly by Monday.

I picked up a book, What to do When Your Baby is Premature, that had a lot of info about what our babies would face depending upon when they were born. You might check out something like that to give you idea of the challenges (and positives too) of what that gestational age birth/development might be like.

I wish you guys the best. . . I think bedrest and the nutrition boosts helped keep our fluids stable. Have you tried these things? (I also was hospitalized too.)

Thanks everyone!! Well I am 29 weeks and still at home so that means our U/S went OK. Baby A's fluid is still abnormally low (about 1.5 cm) but the girls still look good. We have a growth scan next Wednesday to check her growth. WOOHOO that will be 30 weeks! Which I never thought I would get to since the TTTS surgery at 24 weeks! All of my NSTs have been great (3 X week) and Peri says she won't take the babies out unless Baby A's blood flow changes. So I am very optimistic and feel way better after this weeks appt. I always wanted to get to 30 weeks because it was past 28 and I didn't want to be devastated if I didn' t make 32 and I am almost at my 30 week goal and I really feel like the girls will hold on until 32 weeks. So once I make 30 my new goal will be 32!

I have had the steroid shots so that is good.

    Congrats Emily on your babies!

I had a similar situation. My Abby had low fluid starting around 28 weeks. I did not however have TTTS. I went to the peri every week and she checked her flui. It stayed the same for 7 weeks. At 34 weeks 6 days we delivered. It was not because she had lost any fluid but because she was out of room. Her sister was squishing her!! They spent 11 days in NICU and were perfectly healthy.
My thoughts are with you. If you have any questions or want to talk PM me!!

There are a lot of twins born at 29 weeks.... don't you worry! They'll be in NICU for a little, but under great care. So stay
strong for your little ones. I will say a prayer for you all.

    Love,

    Tina
