I have 2 yr old identical boys and am shopping for their new "Big boy room" lol and I was wondering what ya'll would buy, 1 full bed or 2 twin beds? I am leaning toward the 1 full bed because they love to sleep with eachother and I'm afraid they will cry if I buy them separate beds. I'm working on getting them out of my bed so anything is better than that. ;)

I vote for twin beds! They like to sleep together now but what about later when they want their own space. You could get bunk beds if they want to be close.

Although we are not there yet, I have thought about this. The negative I came up with for them sharing a bed is what if one gets sick. I know they are together all the time anyway but sleeping together makes them really close together.

How old are your boys? Mine will be 3 Aug. 2nd. So you wouldn't buy a full?

Definitely twin bed... you'll have to buy them eventually, in 2-3 years they will hate sharing a bed.

We bought 2 twin beds when the boys were just over 2 years old and they love them. I didn;t even consider one full bed. When my boys get older, they will have bunk beds and my youngest will take one of the twin beds.

You can always push twin beds together, but you can't separate a full size bed.

My two are in twin beds, that are across the room from each other, and I find them sleeping together in the same bed quite a bit. I would go with the twins because I am sure there will be a point where they won't want to sleep together.

I have girls, and we went with one full bed. When my girls are sick of sharing a bed, they will also no longer be sharing a room and willl either sleep on the twin day bed that we have, or we will get a new full bed.

Part of what made me decide to go with the one full bed, was that when my girls slept in the room with the twin day bed, even if I opened up the under day bed, they would sleep on just one twin bed together.

You could do what my grandparents two, get 2 twin beds, push em together and put one queen sized mattress pad and sheet on and voila you have a bed they can share. Then when they get older and want to be seperated you don't have to go out and buy another bed.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. We do this in our guest room - two twin beds with a thick mattress pad to make them into one, but I have king sized pad and sheets, not sure a queen would fit. This way we can separate the beds when we have two guests that are not a couple, or put them together when my parents or in-laws come to visit. In fact, these are the beds I am going to roll the girls into when they outgrow their cribs.

I wouldn't buy a full bed unless you're prepared to buy another bed (or two more beds) a few years from now. They're probably not going to be sleeping in the same bed when they're 8.

Thanks for the advice! I also thought about buying the bunk beds with a full on bottom and a twin on top, we will probably go with that. Everyone has their own ideas, my friends twin brothers slept in the same bed until they went to college, believe it or not!! Does anyone else have the full/twin bunk beds?

I vote twin bed (you can push them together) and in the next few years they'll want to have their own bed. Have you thought of bunk bed? I am not sure what age approx. But you can get bunk bed twin over full size and still save the space in the boys' room? If you purchase this bunk bed route, I would keep both bed on the ground until they are a bit older. When it is time is right and then put the bed on top of the bunk bed.

    I hope this helps!

Thank you so much, I think we are definitely going to do that, I know they will want to share a room for a while and the twin/full bunk beds will be perfect because they can sleep together until they don't want to anymore and have the twin bed to separate.

I'm thinking long term and going with two twin beds. While I realize they may end up sleeping together for a while, I don't want them to do that forever.

I would buy twin beds & push them together if they wanted.

What about getting twin beds, but pushing them together so that they can still sleep together? They sell a product to do that without losing children in the cracks! ;-) LINK HERE

Then, you will have the flexibility to put them together, or separate them if you find that might work better.

    Good luck!
