1 cm dialated/50% effaced

Hi, Just wondering how long some of you stayed at 1 cm and 50% effaced? I have been having lots of cx and this morning at my OB check-up she said I was 1cm/50effaced. I was having enough ctx on the NST that she sent me to L&D. They monitored me for several hours and the ctx were between 5-10 minutes apart. They are not painful, but they are strong.

I really want to go another 2 weeks. The L&D nurse said she didn't think I'd make it another week (just a guess). What do some of you more experienced moms think?

 

I was a fingertip at 31 weeks, 2 cm at 32 and 33 weeks, 3 cm at 34 and 35 weeks, 4 cm at 36 and 37 weeks and 4 1/2 cm when I was induced. I am not sure about the effacement, but in the beginning my cervix was still fairly long. I had a heavy child before (which makes it more likely to dilate earlier) and a d&c. With my first I was 1 cm and about 50% at 37 weeks. She was born at 41w2d ... so it can take a while!

 

I was 1cm and 50% effaced at 31 weeks, and having contractions. I delivered by c-section at 37. You could still have awhile yet!

 

I haven't delivered yet but I am 2cm dilated and starting to efface (although she didn't tell me what %) as of 33 weeks. The ob said I could go into labor within 3 days to 3 weeks, I am not having many contractions though, so I'm holding out for the 3 weeks!

Stay of your feet and keep hydrated!!

 

I was 2cm & 60% at 31W. I made it to 36W5D. You just never know how things will go with these babies!!

Thanks, that gives me hope. I'm so confused about these contractions...strong, not painful...last between 1 and 1:30 minutes and are consistent between 4 and 6 minutes. That's how they were when I left L&D. SO, if you are supposed to call when they get closer than 5 minutes apart and if you have more than 4 or 6 per hour what do I do? I guess I'll wait until they get painful or water breaks or something. Hopefully, they will go away. I've had a gallon of water and laying on side. This is fun. Not.

 

I have been 3 cm and 50% effaced for 2 weeks. I have contractions every 4-10 mins. Its hard to tell the difference. Last week when i went to L&D i was contracting every 2 mins with very strong painful contractions and thats how they sent me home. My contractions completely stopped for a week, Until today. You can still make it further.

 

You could have a while to go yet...


I was sent to labor and delivery from a regular appt at 33 weeks when I was 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced. I was having contractions I didn't feel-happened when I was in labor too and was kinda scary to not know it was happening. I was given mag for the contractions and steroids for the girls' lungs. By 36 weeks, I was 4 cm and 90% effaced. I ended up being induced at 38 weeks.

 

I ditto these other gals... 1cm and 50% isn't too much to worry about. Obviously if your ctx get worse then you want to go get checked...but you could have a long time... you might be back here in another 3 weeks wondering why you are dilating more!!

I know lots of women who have hung out at 2 and even 3cm dilation for a month or more. I was 2cm with my twins from week 35 until my c/s at 37wks 5 days...and I still hadn't gone into labor...so it would have been longer.

 

I was 1 cm dilated at 27 weeks. At 30 weeks I was 2 cm and 80% effaced. At 34 weeks I was 4 cm and 100% effaced...that's when I delivered. However, I was on bedrest from 27 weeks on, so I was not carrying on normal day-to-day activity either.
