Need to replacement almost all the windows in my house. Probably about 15-18 windows. Maybe a couple doors.
I get flyers about Renewal by Anderson all the time. Anyone have experience with them? How was it? Any other recommendations?

I see it's been a while since this was posted, but I'm curious—has anyone tried DIY window replacement to save on costs? I'm debating between hiring it out or giving it a shot myself. Also wondering if anyone's had experience with newer energy-efficient options and noticed a real difference in heating or cooling bills afterward. Would love to hear updated thoughts or tips if anyone's tackled this recently.

We went with windows retrofitting glass last year because our frames were still in great shape and we didn’t want to do a full tear-out. It saved us a good chunk of money, and the house is way less drafty now. The install was way faster too since they worked with our existing setup. Definitely worth looking into if your frames aren’t warped or damaged.

I’ve been looking into ways to lower our energy bills, and at the same time, I worry about how easy it is for someone to break into our ground-floor windows. I’m wondering if there’s a product that could actually address both issues at once. Has anyone tried something that improves insulation while also making the windows harder to break?

We faced a similar situation and ended up going with a dual-purpose option. We used windows security films from https://windowtechcanada.ca/security-film/, and it solved both problems at once. The film reinforces the glass so it’s much harder to break, but it also blocks a noticeable amount of heat and UV rays. After installation, we noticed that our living room didn’t heat up as quickly in the afternoons, which reduced our AC use. On the safety side, knowing that the windows are less vulnerable to accidents or break-ins gave us extra confidence. It turned out to be a surprisingly practical upgrade for both comfort and security.
