Best Living Room Windows for Canadian Winters?

Discussion in 'General' started by desokillsabrine, Apr 11, 2025.

We’re upgrading our living room and wondering what kind of windows perform best in cold weather. Insulation is a big concern since the living room is on the north-facing side of the house. Any advice?

Living in Toronto, we absolutely had to prioritize insulation when updating our living room windows. Drafts were a nightmare every winter. After exploring several options, I came across this great guide on windows for living room https://windowtechcanada.ca/living-room-windows-what-design-works-best-for-your-home/ that broke down not just the style choices but also the technical details about glass types and frame insulation. We opted for triple-glazed casement windows with insulated vinyl frames, and the difference is incredible. The room stays warm even on the coldest days, and our heating bill dropped noticeably. Aesthetically, they also fit our home’s design perfectly. Totally recommend taking climate into account before choosing.
