We have traveled a lot this summer and done lots with the kids, but we have yet to spend a night in a hotel room with them. We are going away for the weekend with the kids and a friend. We will have one hotel room (2 queen beds) for myself, my husband, and my friend. We will get two cribs from the hotel, but I'm bringing our pack-n-plays just in case.

Does anyone have any hotel travel tips? What do you do once you put them to bed? Mine go to bed at 8 or so. Do we just go to bed early? We might get away with watching t.v. quietly. Sit outside the door and read? As for food, we'll get milk from stores on the road when we need it. I'm going to pack stuff that travels well for them to eat.

    Anyone have any good suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

We always stay in those suite style hotels (like Residence Inn, Towneplace Suites). They have a separate bedroom from the living area, plus a kitchen. Can you do a hotel like that instead? That way there's a quiet room to put the kiddos down in.

Also, I always take the P&P's, I have never used a hotel crib. Next time we go to a hotel we'll probably just put them in a bed since they are pretty much too big for their P&P's now. But we did use the P&P's successfully early this past summer.

Suite hotels are the way to go! That way when the kids go to bed you can watch t.v. and go to the bathroom!!

Hotel cribs are very narrow and usually metal. They cover the mattress with a HUGE queen size sheet. If you can swing it, just use your PnP's!!

We did the same room thing ONCE! And it was when they were about 6 months old. But then we put the pack-n-plays as close to the door as we could, put blankets haning on the edges of the p-n-p so they couldn't see out/light couldn't in as much, and turned on some white noise down by them.
Then we watched tv quietly till bed time, and did not use the restroom!!!

We did it over Labor Day weekend for 3 nights and survived. DH and I slept in one bed and the boys in the other (but I know you have a third guest so I'd use your pnps). We of course pushed the bed against the wall, used pillows and the comforter to make a barrier around so they wouldn't roll out (they're still in cribs at home).

We put them to bed and then we could watch tv, etc. We kept one lamp on in the far corner and my boys did fine but they are heavy sleepers.

Don't know if you want to but I brought along a little portable burner thing and a pan so I could make cinnamon toast, grilled cheese, etc for the kiddos without having to spend a bunch of money on food at restaurants.

Take your PNP's, some hotels have a one crib per room limit. If your babies don't/can't sleep in the same crib then you'll be in trouble.

Another of my hotel survivors tip is too get some cheap sponges. Cut them in half, spritz them with water and drizzle them with dawn. Let them dry and put them in a Ziploc bag. That way when you need to wash bottles/sippy cups, you can wet the sponges and you have a sink full of bubbles and an easy way to wash them.

    Have fun!
