My 4yo got $100 bucks to shop at TRU for his birthday. So we went today and he picked out a huge mega kit of Geo Trax. It's kinda cute. But the age is 2 1/2. So I figured it would be great since the twins are just about that age. So everyone could play. Well, this thing just keeps coming apart. The little ones can't understand the not walking on the tracks rule. So it's falling apart and I have to keep going in and putting it back together. Then the 4yo (that the toy actually belongs too) plays for a bit and then is bored. FWIW, he's never been one to play with toys. He's never been interested in them. I think he likes it. The twins really like it. But I am so tired of putting the tracks back together ever 5 mins!!

I was just wondering who else has them and what do you do? I'm thinking this might be a good time to get a train table or something? Maybe to get it off the floor. Would that help? I'm just wondering what others think and/or do. TIA!

Our DS received a lot of GeoTrax sets for his 2nd birthday. He absolutely loves trains and loves to play with it after it has been built. However, like the OP...it falls apart easily. My DH originally made a very elaborate track, but it took a while to put together. Therefore, we now put together a lot of simpler tracks. This way if they fall apart, it is easy to put back together. By making lots of different simple ones, he has more choices, too.

We alternate putting the tracks on the floor and on top of our Pottery Barn table. Lately, he hasn't been playing with the tracks but they both like playing with the remote control train and people. :)

One of the things I like about GeoTrax is that the trains run without the track. At that age my boys just used the remotes and played with the trains on the floor. Once in a while I would build a track with them but mostly it was all about the trains. Now they are a bit more into the tracks but my 12yr old builds them and yes, they are torn apart in about a day.

aawww...never thought about that! Except I guess I need a couple more remote trains. The set only came with one. :)

My boys started getting GeoTrax stuff for their second birthday, and still play with them. It is not daily anymore, but it is still fairly frequently. They are able to put the tracks together, and have been able to for a while. The Geo Trax has actually taken over the playroom the track gets so big.

My guys still play with theirs. They get it out every couple of weeks or so. Sometimes I build it, sometimes we build it, sometimes they do it themselves with a little assistance if needed. But, my two have always loved trains. Right now, all the straight track is running across the tv room and the curves are in a stack. the animals are driving the trains under the tunnel (huge blanket thrown over a chair)

My boys got theirs at 2.5 and they love it. We have about $200 invested in it at this point. The track didn't last long at first, but they have gotten better with age (they turned 3 in June) and Ethan loves to build his own track. I bring it out for a few days a week and put it away for the rest of the week. Our tracks usually last about a day, get destroyed and we rebuild. I think my dad is getting them the new airplane track that goes with it for Christmas.

We have several sets. I store them in a giant basket AND a giant tub. We take them out every couple weeks and play with it for a day or two, before putting it away again. The set is way too big for a train table; it takes up 1/3 of our living room when it is up! But the kids love it. IMO, it is a toy that they can definitely grow with. We have had the set for over a year. But like I said, it isn't something that is out all the time. And yes, definitely buy more remote-operated trains. We have four; that way there are enough for when friends come over too.

We had a train party for their second birthday and had all grandmas and other family contribute to the geotrax. They are much better than the previous trains I have had with my older boys. They stay together better and my 2 year olds can put them together sometimes...We have enough tracks that we can make two to help when they want to play alone and not share. My older kids love to design the tracks for their brothers. We love our Geotrax. Give them time and they will leanr not to walk on them.

Yes, you need another train (or two)!

We got the GeoTrax for Christmas and the boys had just turned 2. They love the trains and mostly play with them on the kitchen floor. I love the trains because they are easy to take with us when we travel! They are just now getting into playing with the tracks. I never thought of buliding two tracks and we have enougth track to do that! Guess I know what I will be doing this morning.

Definatlyt buy more trains. One of the good things about GeoTracks is that the accessories are not that expensive. I would totally get this toy again for the boys.
