im just wondering; when i was pg with my boys i always measured a week behind and one was born 40 wks -7 lbs 1 oz and 2nd was 40 wks 7 14 oz-now with twins i thought for sure i would be measuring more then a week! the student measured me and said 23 wks-i was 21 and a bit weeks; but when i did it at home i measured 39 cms:lol: thats a big difference! i used an old measuring tape-no worries but im concerned with 2 babies i should be getting mighty big yes? im up to 172 lbs from 147 lbs i just dont want to short change them because i dont have big babies to begin with. IM eating a ton of protien; anyone measure small and have good size twins?

I weight 166 from 132. The measurement I am not really sure about, the OB didn't tell me, but I don't think that I am huge for having twins. From other people's comments I am small, but the dr. has never been concerned about my weight or the size of the babies. I don't know if that helps. The last u/s my twins weighed 19 weeks which was the week I was in and 18 weeks 5 days. Everything was looking fine.

I just had my dr appointment today and I am measuring 32 weeks. I think since you had a student she probably didn't measure accurately. You should know by the ultrasounds whether they are average size or not. Fundal height doesn't tell a lot when your pregnant with twins from what I understand. I sure if your eating well your babes will be just fine :)

My peri never measured fundal heights with twins. I never "looked" big though, and gained a total of 42 pounds. When I delivered at 31 weeks they were right at the 50th percentile for weight and height for their gestation.

I had a friend who was due with a singleton 3 weeks ahead of my twin due date. She always, always looked much bigger than me. Everytime someone saw me they'd say "I thought you'd be much bigger".

I gained a total of 42 pounds with my pregnancy.

I'm sure you are just fine. Fundal height is not that accurate b/c it depends a lot on how babies are laying/positioned.

With my twins, I only measured 3-4 weeks ahead...and I didn't start measuring ahead until around 21-22 weeks. When I delivered them, at 34 weeks, I was measuring 38 weeks and they were 8#6oz. combined.

I'm now pregnant with a singleton and at 26 weeks, I was measuring 26 cms. At 30 weeks, I was only measuring 28 cms. Which, from what I've read adn what my OB told me...they aren't concerned b/c it can mean you will just have a smaller baby or baby is breech or transverse.

My OB told me that the fundal height doesn't mean much with twins. My fundal height was only 1-2 weeks ahead until I reached 26 weeks and then it was several weeks ahead (now I am measuring 40 weeks and I am 34). I think the ultrasound is a much better indicator of how they twins are doing as far as weight/size.

Everyone tells me there's no way I am carrying twins because they think I look too small. However, I was the same way with my first two children. I never got really big but my son was 7 lb 7 oz and my daughter was 7 lb 2 oz. Sometimes it drives me crazy when people tell me I'm small (not that I want to be told the opposite!) but I just trust that the ultrasounds would put up a red flag if one or both babies were too small. My doctor hasn't given me any measurements this pregnancy. He measures me each visit but says they're not accurate since there are two babies in there. I hope this helps reassure you some.

Since about 20 weeks I have been measuring about 5 weeks ahead. At my last appt (25 weeks) I measured 30. According to my u/s, both babies were right on target for their weights. I also heard a lot depends on your babies positioning....especially if they are laying transverse (which mine tend to like!). In one of my books, it talks about a woman pregnant with twins getting bigger from side to side as well as the typical "baby bump." Good luck!

Good grief, I should hope they aren't the same since at 24 weeks I measured 34. Funny, I have lost 12lbs, gained 10 so I'm still a deficit of 2 lbs right?

There really isn't a correlation between fundal height and size. As others have said, your fundal height measures farther and farther ahead as pregnancy goes on. I was only measuring like 1/2 a week ahead at 16 weeks but was 12 weeks larger than normal when I had the girls at 35 weeks.

Hello, I was just looking on the internet about this and saw your question. I am 20 weeks with twin boys. I went to my last appointment Monday the 20th. I measured at 26 weeks, although I am only 20. This alarmed me and I asked my doctor if I was further along. He said no and that with twins you should always measure several weeks further along.

I just want to echo those who say that fundal height isnt accurate for twins. My doctor doesnt even measure mine.
