Both my girls have very very dry skin one worse than the other I was putting excurine(sp) on it but it doesn't seem to be getting any better it is so red especially under their necks and their chest to the point where it looks like it is cracking behing her knees. Has this happend to any of your children and if so what did cream did you use?? Thanks a mill...

Have you tried Aquaphor? It is really greasy, but worked everytime for my boys.

Ditto what PP said. Worked wonders for us.

Aquaphor is great! I love it! But if Aquaphor doesn't clear it up then talk to your pedi.

ETA Yes, I bought mine at Target.

Yes, you can pretty much get it anywhere! It's a little pricey (I think like $17 for a big jar) but I think it's well worth it. I also like to put it on my boys in the summer to help prevent diaper rash and in the winter on their face to help with wind burn :) . Pretty much, when in doubt, I try Aquaphor first  .

My son has severe eczema and aquaphor is the lotion we use. if you have a dry patch that won't go away, put a little 1% hydrocortisone on it first for a few days, followed by the aquaphor. Should do the trick

Aquaphor is good BUT won't cure the dryness, it will just prevent it from becoming more chapped. aveeno naturals cream is awesome lotion, they claim it lasts for 24hrs, used it when my DD was little and had extremely dry skin on arms by her elbows and behind her knees just like you described.

My ds and dd have eczema and we use vanicream. Works great for them. We get it at the drug store.

Aquaphor here too. One piece of advice if you do use it, our pedi recommended only using it at night. She said the greasiness will absorb the sun rays more if you are outside.

We swear by A&D ointment at our house. Both girls had very dry skin..and applied a little every night before bed and now it is all cleared up. Especially behind their knees and elbows...works great for moms too. :D

We use aloe vera gel and it works wonders for Iris's excema and dry skin. also it's very cheap.
I've also noticed even a little water will make a difference. Don't know how old yours are and if water is allowed though.

I can't believe so many kiddies have dry skin or excema. We have tried everything. You may want to try different things. We found out that anything with lanoline was aggravating. And hydrocortisone creams can sting. My son uses Vanicreme and Protopic (which is a non-steroid prescription). He also used benedryl at night as a baby because scratching makes it much worse. All of this was the peds suggestion. Hope they don't need it for long.

A capful or so of baby oil at every other bath. Just pour it in and wash them as normal. It is what finally got Jazz's exzema full cleared up and has kept it way for about 4 months. Be careful as it does make them slippery. Works wonders for adult skin too! ;)
