So here I am 5 kids in, 39 years old, 3 babes lost, IUD in place, a week late. Seeing as I know what being pregnant feels like, I'm not surprised by the 2 positive pregnancy tests. I feel eerily calm, even though I know this will probably cause my DH's head to explode. We were certainly done, but suddenly not. OMG I think I'm hysterical!
I have an IUD as well but I actually want to have another baby. Congrats and I hope hubby takes it without his head exploding too much!
I'm with Katherine - I'm getting my IUD placed tomorrow but am hoping I'm a rare whoops. I can imagine it's more shocking when you *aren't* hoping for it though. And congratulations!
Went to the doc today and found that my IUD was till perfectly in place, whole in tact and "on the job" However my husbands soldiers stormed that fortress with a vengeance, because right there on ultrasound above the crossbar of the T was the sac, with a lil speck of a baby, lol. We go back next week, now that the IUD has been removed, to get a better look and to see if my one is more than one. And away we go...
It is difficult but fortunately he is gone 3p-3a for work and I don't like to give him things that will distract him from the road (he drives a gasoline tanker) It makes keeping this a little easier, at least til Saturday
I had my appointment with my doc to get my IUD today and shared your story and he totally went into reassuring mode (very rare, won't happen to you, etc) and I was all like "Are you kidding? That's exactly what I want to happen!" He didn't really know what to do with that. I'd have a hard time finding the right way to tell DH too. He does not want another baby.
Lol, well my last 3 pregnancies all involved some sort of birth control so the doc said after this one, let's tie your tubes and lets give him a vasectomy too. We have been dubbed "Fertile Myrtle and Super Sperm"
Congratulations on both the pregnancy and keeping it quiet for now. No need to stress him out quite yet. Maybe you could bring up the idea of him getting a vasectomy and see what he says. If he thinks that would be un necessary you can bring up the fact of the little bun in the oven. Any names thought about yet? Mirena is pretty
He actually had a vasectomy scheduled last year but had to postpone because he has "deep tubes" and needed anesthesia. He was also very overweight which made the doc hesitant to do the procedure til he lost weight. He has since lost 125lbs and we had planned on rescheduling the procedure. It never crossed our minds that the IUD wouldn't work in the meantime, lol. I guess his weight loss made skinny little swimmers that shot right by it! I'm just waiting for the right moment to say "Looky what God did!"
Wow, congrats to your hubs on the weight loss! That's a really big deal! You have such an awesome attitude. Just wanted to say that.
I agree, congratulations to hubby on the weight loss. Can't wait to hear his reaction to the new little addition.
So told the Hubs yesterday, went like this... Me: I have something I've been keeping from you, but I wanna eat cookies first. Him: Ok, you gonna tell during the cookies or after? Me: After.. Me: You have to promise to stay here til I'm done talking, you can't leave Him: Can't leave til when you get confirmation that you're pregnant? Me: :shok: I already have confirmation, how did YOU know. Him: Cuz you haven't had a period... We continued to talk, I'm prayerful now because this morning, I could see it sinking in and it wasn't good. Just gonna give him some time to digest it all now. Meanwhile I will try to maintain my composure  and on Thursday we're gonna try and see if there is more than one. Our history would say this is indeed twins for the 4th time. :gah:
I am impressed he notices when you get (or don't get) your period!! Praying he comes to peace with the news soon! Keep us posted about Thursday!
Very observant hubby. I am praying he will do fine. He already had an idea so your sharing was not a total surprise. Praying also for positive results at your appointment.
