I've been having some issues with our bottles. I have Similac bottles and the slow nipples are way too slow. They fall asleep half way through the fed and I look it's only been 1/2 an ounce when they take almost three. So I moved them up to the medium flow. Joshua does pretty good but Matthew was having horrible trouble with gas/tummy ache. So I tried Drop-Ins. The Slow nipples are way toooo slow. Joshua couldn't even handle the medium so he's staying on with the Similac bottles. Matthew on the otherhand does well with the Drop--In medium flow. Only problem is he eats really fast. He just sucks the bottle down. But he's content, no spitup for the most part, and no belly ache. Is it ok that he eats quickly?

if he's burping for you and not puking it back up then I'd just make sure he's not gagging and go for it!

Idk if this helps but my boys are 9 wks and on playtex ventaire and they use the medium nipples, no issues with them.. my daughter used them also.

The medium nipples are what we're using and they're going to be four weeks this week. I remember my dd1 using them early too but it was probably closer to 8-9weeks. It's so frustrating finding the right bottle. So far so good. I just tried the Drop-In again with Joshua and he did very well this time no spit up either.

Yep I had the same with my dd. My boys actually never could suck out of the slow nipples. They went straight from hospital bottles to med

We are still on slow and they seem fine. We might switch soon. I think you should do what works best!

We always used the faster flow nipples per our hospital's recommendation. We also fed them sitting up though, with our hand bracing their back, again per the hospital recommendation. We had essentially no issues with spitting up.

DD was a gulper also. I would let her take a few gulps then i would pull out the bottle and wait for her to catch her breath. Then start again. Even doing this she usually finished before DS.
If he is not spitting up then sounds like what you are doing is working.

I hold them like this as well. They eat better this better this way. If I cradle them they just fall right asleep. :)

My twin ds was downing 4 oz in 5 min by 4 weeks! It's like he took one long suck and the bottle was gone! I say count it a blessing! lol

They're slowing down a bit but it's pretty close to what you're describing!
